As I sit here, miserable and in pain, I am truly curious as to why people enjoy being pregnant. I realize not everyone has horrible symptoms, but I'm still at a loss.

Personally, I've had about 2 weeks where I have felt like a normal human being. I had morning sickness up to 18 weeks, and then the severe back pain started at 20 weeks. I can't sleep at night, simply shifting positions at any point in my day makes my back scream in agony, and as evidenced by this post, it is making me severely cranky!

So with that out of the way, tell me what I am missing out on! Is it the attention? Is it just the joy of knowing we are all growing wee babes and will soon have them to hold in our arms? When I think about that last bit, it does make me happy, but all the negatives are really wearing me down this week. :(

On the bright side, I think I am finally looking pregnant instead of just fat! While out grocery shopping yesterday, a fireman insisted on carrying my basket while I was waiting in line to pay, as I "shouldn't be carrying heavy things". I've never expected THAT type of attention before..made me giggle.

Hey tipper sorry to hear that you've been having such a tough time! I was very fortunate and didn't suffer with any sickness at all and have had a pretty easy time of it by all accounts. I think the lovely parts are when you can feel baby wriggling about inside you and you know that he/she is safe and content, hearing their heartbeat pumping away, seeing what initially looks like flab turn into a proper baby bump, imagining what baby will look like and how you will feel when he/she is born, making the most of offers to help, being able to eat nice yummy things because you're not on a diet and knowing that at the end of it all you will have a lovely little baby who loves you absolutely and will depend on you for everything in the world! xx

Big thanks for that post! I probably shouldn't have even made my original post, but I am just Ms. crabby-pants today and couldn't help it. :X

I never realized how trying the back-pain would be. My DH's 30th birthday is coming up in a month, and we were wanting to take a trip to Vegas, but as of now I can barely walk more than 10 minutes and so I think that trip will be cancelled. Also, he wanted to surprise me with a spa trip and a massages for Valentine's Day, but I wouldn't survive due to the pain. :( Beginning to feel like a sack of potatoes who can do nothing but sit on a couch. *sigh*

Arg. I just need to focus on the positive! It has been amazing being able to feel our little boy kick and punch, and DH was finally able to feel it as well! And hey, there is only 4 more months to go! Just thinking about bringing him home made me a little teary eyed. I think the hormones are going crazy today!

You are very welcome - everyone who is pregnant has teary and upset days and you are entitled to feel hormonal!!! Maybe a spa treament and a massage would help with the back pain if it's aimed at mums to be? Hope the back pain eases off for you hun xx

I agree with this!

Sorry you're having a crap time tipper. I've also been fortunate not to have morning sickness. And I've had a few pains and normal pregnancy stuff but nothing thats lasted long or has been too bad. But I've had bad days where I've been really hormonal and grumpy lol.

*hugs*

:hugs: do something nice for yourself this eving hun , a soak or something xxxx

Heya :)

I've always had a dodgy back and being preggers is NOT helping, lol :D
My midwife referred me to a physio class at my local hospital and then from there I got referred to a special maternity physio who showed me simple exercises to help strengthen my crappy back and also relax and tension in the muscles as this can cause awful pain and make your other muscles hurt from overcompensating for the tense ones.
They also gave me a support bandage (like you get for a sprained ankle) but BIG to help hold some of the weight of my bump and give my bck a break. I can't wear it all the time as it's pretty tight.. but it's great for when the pain is bad and I have to go anywhere.
The physio also said that normal does of paracetamol is perfectly safe and should be used as it'll take the edge of the pain and allow you to move around a bit more... essential for bad backs as doing nothing can aggravate it and slow down healing.
Obviously, what works for one person might not for another.. but do speak to your midwife/gp as you might be surprised at help what they can offer you :)

Also, I'm in a right miserable crabby mood as well today :) Blame the hormones.. I am :D xx

Aww sorry your feeling crap and not enjoying your pregnancy, I think some of us are just lucky and have it easy, Ive had no sickness no pains etc.. A little heartburn and alot of inside beating from bubs but nothing too bad .. I love it because i love knowing im creating a life inside of me, i love feeling him move (most the time) and love knowing my body is supporting him ... I also love love love my bump oh and the fact I have boobs for the first time lol ... I hope you feel better soon.. and as your said only 4 more months and youll have forgot all this pain and uncomfortableness and will just be amazed at the amazing thing yourbody managed to create :D

Butting in from 3rd tri here but just wanted to say that you shouldn't feel bad about not enjoying pregnancy everyday, it's alot of work and some people have an easier time than others x
