Moi

I've piled on the weight  I'm so embarassed to admit this but I'm 5ft 3in and weigh 11st 4lb  My BMI is 27.5 which classes me as obese!! :( I'm not REALLY down about it or anything, but seeing it in black & white on the NHS website that I'm "obese" was a bit of a reality check  I knew I'd piled it on but not that bad lol!!

I tried to think "oh they're probably exaggerating and I can still get away with my 6 packets of crisps a day" ( :rotfl: ) but then remembered that the NHS wouldn't lie about whether I'm a porker or not!!

I'm going to really try and eat healthily now. I know it's down to the shit I eat and with breastfeeding Evie too, I really should eat better

It's going to take a long time to gradually get down to a healthier size, but I am ready to take on the challenge and admit that I'm a fatty bum bum :rotfl:

Has anyone changed their diet while breastfeeding? If so, did it alter your milk supply? Anyone know roughly how many calories I should be consuming a day? I assume I should be eating more to allow for the milk supply?

Thanks ladies!!

x

I can't answer your questions but

And be thankful you can use the phrase.. oh but i've just had a baby - Try using that same phrase when you've got a 13 month old in your arms and people look at you a bit :? :fib:

Honestly don't worry.. enjoy your daughter whilst she is so small and given time the weight will fall off

Breastfeedin melted my fat away lol

Long as babys healthy and feedin well then thats all good, obviously dont eat mcdonalds for every breakfast lunch and dinner lol, but dont beat urself up about it - part and parcel of creatin a new life!

Oh hun, don't worry about it! You're bound to still have some weight yet to come off, it's not eve been a month since you've had Evie! I have no idea how much I put on in my pregnancy, but when Ella was 6 weeks old I started weight watchers and was 11st 10lbs (I'm about 5'5) which is classed as overweight. I managed to lose about 10lbs but piled it all back on again.

Your body still has alot of time to change yet. I stopped breastfeeding when Ella was 6 weeks but I imagine a healthy diet would not affect your milk in a bad way.

Good luck

aww hun this will cheer you up you still weigh less then me and im 2inches shorter!!!!

xx

Well I'm 4ft 11in and weigh 11st 7lb and my BMI is around 32

I thought you were only classed as obese with a bmi over 30

Anyhow don't worry hun

Ur not obese hun your classed as over weight in terms of BMI but not by that much really as under 25 is normal.

Breastfeeding burns calories so healthy eating alongside should work well :D Good luck hun, its hard to come to terms with your post baby body but dont worry it wont be like that forever :) x

hey, there is hope. im 5'4" and was 11st.7 on june 9th, 2007! i am now around 7st. just dont get too carried away, eh

btw, i thought bmi 18.5-25 = healthy, 25-30 = overweight and not until over 30 is obese? so i wouldnt hav thought ur obese

  Honestly hun don't listen to them BMI thingys, according to those if i weighed 6 1/2stone i would be near enough healthy, no way would that be healthy for me!!!

I know the feeling only too well with the pigging out, i have been doing it soooo much, and i don't have the excuse of im eating for two anymore...lol.

I'd try not to worry too much about your weight while your breastfeeding. Try just swapping the junk for healthy alternatives :)

It took about 4 months for me to lose the weight i gained during pregnancy and that was all down to breastfeeding. I didn't change what i ate but i was drinking a lot more fluids. I also got my first period around this time so i think that helped me to stop looking so bloated.

If i think I'm hungry i will have a cold glass of water first because a lot of the time I'm just thirsty but think I'm hungry iykwim :)

connor's now 7 months old and i'm exactly the same height & weight as you dannii! i know i'm much heavier than i ought to be, but my pcos has come back with a vengeance and i'm too busy enjoying feeding my baby to care at the moment

by all means watch what you eat, but i really wouldn't count calories whilst your bf-ing. just eat lots of healthy food and steer clear of the junk.

(remember that flapjacks are still allowed though - oats are good for your milk supply!  )

You need around 500 extra calories while breastfeeding anyway don't you?

Yes that's what I was told/read...can't remember.

I am 5ft ish and weighed over 11 stone when I had Imogen. I breast fed and lost 2 stone in 2 weeks!!! I just ate normal food, pretty healthy I guess, but the odd treat. I found I was thirsty so much and made the effort to drink instead of eating.

Also, I ate little and often. I found I needed to eat every 3 hours and would eat quite a lot of carbs stuff, crackers, cheese, pasta dishes etc.

Also, when I felt more able to go out with LO in the buggy it was great to be out walking even if for 20 minutes and that helped me to keep it all off.

I weigh between 8st 7 and 8 st 10 nowadays goes up and down. I was around 8st ish before I got pregnant. Not bad I guess.

I did not diet and still don't  nor do I exercise (I really SHOULD! tut tut). I would be inclined to say enjoy eating, but obvious advice, if it tastes that good it is bad for you... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Everything in moderation hun, be realistic. If you fancy chocolate/cake whatever, just have a treat a day and eat healthily for rest of day...then cut down over time.

I'm sure you are still as beautiful as ever Dannii. :D

Take care, hope breast feeding is going better for you and Evie. x

oh poppet you are NOT FAT YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL GORGEUS MUMMY!!!

We adapt habits during pregnancy we normally don't do so give yourself a break. Also remember your body is still recovering, so give yourself a little bit of time to get things back on track.

As others have said b feeding will help burn those extra calories right off because your body is having to work extra hard to make up all the milk for LO.

Im going to join ww in a months time, why don't you join too then we can be wl buddies and then look extra hot for Santa lol!

P.s I agree PLEASE ignore BMI its a load of bollox!

DANNII...You have JUST had Evie...BMI does not allow for mummy tummys!

I still have some way to go, but Im not fussed, just going to eat healthy...with the odd pub lunch thrown in for leisure and pleasure! I do need to get a bit more fruit though, craved it loads when pregnant, and now not touched it!

As long as I am back in my old clothes in another 2months, I'll be happy. Can't stay in maternity clothes forever  The very latest I want to be in shape again will be January sales so I can grab some bargains and re-kit out my wardrobe!!

Oh and my BMI was 27 when I was just 11 weeks pregnant.

Thanks ladies!!

Flapjacks are LUSH! I'll have to eat lots though, because I want a good milk supply :fib:

Sharne, I'm going to join Weight Watchers... They cater for breastfeeders too which is awesome! They allow an additional 10 points for breastfeeding :cheer:

I'm walking loads too which is good for the ol' legs!

I went back to my slimming class last week and was dreading getting weighed. I put on about 2 stone during my pregnancy and somehow managed to lose it all. No idea how, I have been eating so much junk food and take aways as I am too tired to cook these days and I haven't exactly been running around much. I am currently 16st at the moment, still got a long way to go but on the right path. Oh and according to the NHS website I am VERY obese! :rotfl: Not surprising news to me!

Oh and I've heard good things about Weight Watchers! I go to Scottish Slimmers which I love. I can eat chocolate as long as I work it into my daily check point allowance. :)

Im 15.8 at the mo and was a few months ago 18.2 so my bmi has dropped a bit but im not one to go by bmi, i go by inches and how i look and weight. I do care how i look hence why im loosing weight.

Dani WW is fab and really does work so best of luck, take it slowly though and youl have a good 2lbs off a week which is average for WW.

you are certainly NOT obese...

However, if you do choose to lose any weight why not come join us in monthly weight loss challenge, ive just restarted it again..
