Ive got to do mine tommorow, so hope i dont get picked. Its not something i really want to do.

i managed to get out of doing it so far :D good luck hun xxx

ooooooooo id love to be picked!
How did you get out of it Rach! ? My mum had a terrible time trying to get out of doing hers.

I got out of mine by saying i didn't have a childminder.

I did it about 5 years ago, and there is one word for it - BORING!!!!

In the whole 2 weeks, I managed to sit in on one case, and then it got thrown out due to lack of evidence!!!!

There was a murder trial going on at the same time, and that jury had been there every day for 3 months! They were all asked before they joined that jury if they could give up that length of time though, so you won't end up in that situation if you don't want to. To be honest, they were all a bunch of scruffy unemployed people with nothing better to do, it didn't make me feel very good that they were trying a possibly murderer!

I really hope i dont get picked then, my dads travelling 500 miles in a week to see me and its gonna be a wasted trip if im going to be too busy with jury duty.

I've never been called up for Jury Duty.

My college French teacher (when I was in college) said that once she was doing Jury Duty, and she realised that the guy who was on trial was one of her ex-pupils, so she had to raise her hand and say that she knew him, so she got taken off the case.

they usually cover cost of stuff like that.

Yea they do, on the back of my thingy it says about childminder costs, although nothing they can do if you actually cant find anybody.

I wonder if you could say that you don't want your child to be looked after by a stranger. Surely that's your right as a parent, even if they are registered childminders. Especially lately with all the scares about paedophiles getting jobs in schools, and those little babies/children being raped etc.
I know that if I was called up for Jury Duty, I wouldn't want to have Lydia looked after by a stranger...I'm very wary about that sort of thing. I wonder if they can force you to, I hope not!

sorry that was a bit OT, it just got me thinking.

yea id deffo say that.
no way would i let some stranger take care of my precious bundles.

I want to do it!
but my luck would be getting a boring case!! :wall:

i said i had no one to look after luke they sent me a letter saying childminder costs could be reclaimed and i said no way was i leaving him with someone i dont know and they neednt call me again till he was 16 they tried to call me again about 4 years later and i did same thing again ive not heard off them since (touch wood) and hopefully by time they call me again il have a new baby to look after lol xxx

I'd love to do jury service but I don't think I am able to because of my job. Knowing my luck I'd get a dull case.

Just called the courts freephone number as directed.

"For courts 8a blah blah please note your attendence is no longer required"

:cheer:  :cheer:
