Argh jury service! UPDATED PG 2

Oh thats terrible, after my post about getting called for Jury service i followed your advice and sent of the form letting them know that i can't make it due to babys due date, do they send you a letter with a date that you HAVE to go then after that???

I had to put the dates within the next 12 months that i couldn't make it and i was thinking its just my luck i get babys birthday, but i cant put it down that i cant make that week because hes not here yet.

I'm hoping you don't get selected and miss out on Rileys birthday.

They told me I could bring it forward but I can't delay it any more.

I will ask for mid-feb I think, that will give me enough time to get it over with if I am selected.

What are you supposed to do if you have jury service and you have kids to look after and nobody else to look after them?

that will be me... you are supposed to put them into childcare and they give you the money back... but I can't see a nursery wanting to take on a child for an unknown period of time... it might be a day, it might be for weeks! And I will need a childminder to take my eldest to school and pick him up.

Oh dear :( they are a right bunch of b*ggers aren't they.

I always wondered about this. What if you turn up and act like a complete idiot or just say "yeah, he MUST be guilty".

What would happen then?

what happens normally is that both the defence and prosecution get a chance to object to jurors i.e not use those they feel may be biased towards a case. For example oif it was a child abuse case they might not want a young mother in it etc etc. They can ask question sbaout your views etc.
