has nothing for baby yet? I know i'm still quite early on but it seems like all of our wages are going on bills and food shopping right now and i'm wondering how were going to cope financially... :(

When we were TTC, OH had more hours at work then after the BFP he got told it's either redundancy or drop some hours, so i'm basically working to cover his hours he's lost :(

I don't know if i'm elegible for the £500 maternity grant so thats worrying too.

Arghh just worrying too much :wall:

I have only bought a few items for my baby at the moment. Plus my OH is unemployed atm and i am not on a very high wage, we do not live together but are moving in together very soon hopefully but i know money is going to be really tight! Just try and be optimistic, im sure everything will work out, and you will make a fantastic parent :) Also Ebay and Freecycle are your friends!

My OH has just taken a huge drop in wages and I havent felt up to any overtime the last few months and we are skint!! So nup havent bought anything for bubs yet as cant affoard to. His mum has bought us our cot and dresser though was so kind of her :)

hey hun know how u feel, jade did u know about the £190 grant 4 healthy eating ?? its new this year, anybody who is due on or after 1st april is entitled to this grant. when your 25 weeks should ask your midwife about it... then it comes in april time. thats going to help me and OH out alot. ebay and freecycle are brill also loot we got alot of. we got babys wardrobe and draws for £40 there brilliant aswell. xx

I have a few bits but they've mainly been bought by my Mum, I'm hoping to get some more stuff after my scan next week as we were planning on buying bits here and there!

Thanx everyone. Yeah I know about the £190 thank you  I just keep worrying that things are going to fast and we will have nothing saved to buy anything lol :wall:

Hi babe,

We have bought the bare minimum at the moment. This is because we're still not really sure what we need and need to sit down and write a list, and also because I don't want to get loads of stuff like clothes and things now as I know that when the baby is here, people are going to buy presents and we will want to go and buy gender specific clothing so I'm just going to basically have enough to see me through the first couple of weeks.

I've bought about £100 of stuff from Babies R Us including bottles and a steriliser if breast feeding doesn't work out! I've got a couple of towels and a teddy, a blanket, some burping towels and that's about it! I'm not going to get a separate bath as we have a perfectly good one at home! So I'll get a safe little baby 'holder' for the bath and use that. Also we're going to try and get a second-hand moses basket and new matress for it as I don't see the point in spending £60 on something it's not going to use for long.

Try not to worry as your baby isn't going to go without and there are some really good NCT sales and things I've heard of where you can pick up excellent used items in great condition!
