Who do you bring with to the booking appointment

Hey Ladies!!!

Just wanted to find out what happens at the booking appointment. Do partners normally come along and are they involved? Or do they just end up sitting on a chair outside, feeling useless?

My DH came in with me, phone n ask just in case. Not sure if it's different in different areas xx

I took my OH with me, as they ask about both sides of the family history. xXx

I went to my first appointment with my OH which turned out just to be a chat to meet her, she came to my house for my actual booking in appointment. My OH came to that too, which helped cos we had to mention things on his family medical history that i didn't know much about

Having done it three times before I told OH not to bother taking time off work for it. The only bit they are really involved in are the medical bit, ie diabetes, genetic illness on their side of family. Which I could answer anyway.

Thats not to say he shouldn't come. If you would like him there or he wants to be then it's great to have his support and involvment. But you could just as easy take a friend or relative to come and give you moral support.

i went to booking appoint alone as that was specified, apparently they like to make sure there are no questions or domestic violence issues that you might want to discuss without oh so its easier for you to be honest if they not there, to be truthful as long as you have the history id imagine its a pretty boring appoint for oh's anyway! but defo take them to scan! x

I went alone but it didnt say i had to ive quoted you hunni cos they asked me the domestic violence questions too which was all new!

They also refered me to talk to someone bout how i feel and asked if it was ok for DH to know about it all.

I agree with taking him if you/he wants to tho i know lots of people who's partners go with them to everything xx

Think I will be going alone, this will be our 4 th and it's only been 10 months since the last so I won't my oh sit through it again lol plus he can babysit if hopefully I get an app when he in the right shift, other wise I will have to take the kids with it being the holiday my oldest is 6 and I pretty sure he would figure out what we are talking about, never thought this through hell,

I was the same as K8, my info told me specifically NOT to bring DH - so maybe something worth checking out, especially if he's likely to have to take time off work for it.

To be honest at mine it was just a quick review of the info i had filled in on the form - not something DH would have been impressed at having to take time off work for.

He's coming to scan appointment, and possibly some of later ones, but im going to the second half of ma booking appointment tomorrow on my own. (no idea why it is done in two halves up here)

Yeah I got asked that one as well. Thats new to me as well. Did make me giggle when she asked it. But apparantly statistics show that violence goes up in pregnancy!
