Which pump?

Seems there is pros and cons with both of these.
Please share your experiences ladies so I can decide

For me, there is no point in buying anything other than a Medela Swing.

You get to use a Medela Sympothny in hospital which is excellent but about 3 grand lol. I had bought a tommee tippee electric, I got home used it once, and went straight out & bought the swing before I've even changed a nappy! Haha.

Its really excellent & I coukdnt reccommend it enough x

I don't see why not!

Once you get it, you don't have to sterlise after every use as breastmilk doesn't breed bacteria. I still tend to sterlise mine once a day just for peace of mind but the rest of the time just hot soapy water. Its the same with breastmilk storage pots, bottles & nipple shields x

I second the medela advice, my tommee tippee one was rubbish (good job was from a boot sale not used). I have a medela on loan from the HV. I have an avent manual but not used it yet.

You can buy the swing on ebay for 30 quid sounds like a good investment to me x

I just wanted to say that I have the Tommee Tippee electric pump and it's been brilliant. I have been using it for about 2 weeks - 8 times a day and I've been expressing off about 4oz in 20 mins!

When I first started expressing I borrowed a madela one from the hospital but it wasn't as good. So I guess you'll just have to see what is best for you.

If you buy the medela pump on eBay you could always get brand new replacement parts like the bits that you would sterilise. I believe they're inexpensive too. I pump full time with a medela swing and would also recommend it. X

Breast pads! Lots and lots of breast pads.
Also even if you get the Medela pump, you don't have to get the specific Medela bags. You can get a cheaper brand and they do the same thing.

With regards to the pump, I had to ask my mil to get me one as I initially couldn't breastfeed due to baby being poorly. She got me a mothercare own one and I was a little disappointed as I'd been using Medela in hospital. I actually preferred it as it was so much quicker and efficient. Like everything, what works best for you won't work best for someone else.

You'll get the basin that collects the milk as you pump and that will be specific to Medela. But with regards to bottles, any will do! You literally just pour the milk in the bottle.

I found Dr Brown bottles the best as they helped reduce the wind lo took down - reduces things like colic.

Argos sell the Dr Brown newborn starter kit for £13 and Tesco two bottles for £10 so not too bad

We are the same as bb & just pump into the medela bottle & then transfer. I bought the tommee tippee milk storage pots for the fridge as I don't freeze milk so don't need bags & they were brill as they are 50ml pots which works perfectly for us as H is so random with his feeds we just warm up 50ml then if he wants more another 50ml ect otherwise we could end up wasting a lot. We also use the Dr Brown's bottles, they are ace for cutting down on wind x

I pump full time so make more in 1 sitting than fits into the medella bottle that goes with the pump. We found that the basic boots bottle fit onto our medella pump, so i pump into one of those and then can store it in the fridge. X
