Jumping the gun a little here. I am nearly 39 weeks. Got my next midwife appointment at 40+4 when I will be offered a sweep. Then next midwife appointment at 41+2. I just wondered when they normally offer induction? I am a first time mum by the way.

Thanks ladies

Depends on your hospital. I got induced at Term+14 with my son. With my daughter I was booked in for Term+10 (different hospital).

My hospital is term +12. When you reach you due date they should be booking you in for your induction.

Like others have said, it depends on what rules your midwives go by in your area.

This is my first baby and I had my first sweep at 40+5, and at the same time they booked an appointment for my 2nd sweep for 40+8, and an induction date for 40+12. I think my induction got pushed a few days later to avoid the weekend and to give sweep number 2 a decent chance. But my check ups have all been really good - baby and I appear to be healthy so there's no reason to rush any of this.

There are so many factors I think it'd be impossible to give you a definite answer

Most areas leave you to go a week overdue at least, with it typically being between 10 and 14 days when an induction is offered.

With my first as soon as I reached 40 weeks they booked me in for an induction at +10 days.

I ended up in the hospital with high blood pressure at 40 +6 so got induced then. Personally after my experience with the induction, I would suggest leaving it as long as you physically can to give your body chance to go naturally.

Similar to Orion really.

I was booked in i think 2 days before my 2 weeks was up (i had gone overdue) i cant tell you how many sweeps i had in the meantime to try to start things off!

I was told at the hospital even though i was in due to be induced i didn't have to be induced i could wait things out to see if the baby would come naturally but in hindsight i knew i was delaying the inevitable because my little boy was not going to come out on his own! He needed some gentle persuasion shall we say ;)!

Forgot to mention if i had decided to go home after yet another sweep (unsucessful) i would still have to go back in for daily monitoring & they would need to check with the doctors i was okay to go before just letting me! i also hadn't choosen my local hospital to birth in so that also had to factor in somewhere! In the end though i was told that it would be advisable to stay in & i'm so glad in the end that i did!

Surrey based, 42 weeks
Or if your waters break or you start to labour but need help after the s&s for the infection risks. Xxx

I had a s&s at 40+1, waters broke 40+2 (pm), went in for a gel 40+3, induction failed so had drip 40+4, baby born 40+5!! He took his time

With my little girl it was 40+12 but as others have said it's different everywhere xx

I was induced at term plus 12. With the pessary, +13 had 2 rounds of gel,+14 he was born by c section and was probably still hanging onto my ribs as they had to use forceps too.
