When to start

Hi all
Well i know its too late to ask this question because im already TTCing but i was just wondering when you can start TTCing after coming off the pill? I stopped the pill in janurary or late december and started TTC straight away and i havent had a 28day cycle untill this month Theyv all been 21 25 26 or 27 but this month iv got my normal 28 day cycle back.. So do you think i have more chance now or does it make no difference?

Normally you can start straight away however some say wait 6 months till your body adjust etc..

I came of the pill in september and started ttc in december.

It doesnt matter how long your cycle is. I havent been on the pill for way over a year now and my cycles arent always exactly the same length. More important is when you ovulate. You dont always ovulate exactly half way through your cycle. E.g. I have a 29/30/31 day cycle, I do not ovulate on day 14/15/16 though which would be halfway through, I ovulate around day 17/18/19 and then have a luteal phase (the 2 week wait) of 12 days. Your luteal phase stays the same every month (hopefully!).

So if you can find out when you are ovulating from using OPKs, checking your cervical fluid - If its like egg white or watery then you are fertile, once this has dried up you have more than likely ovulated. I also recommend charting your temperature on fertility friend as this gives you a great insight into what is happening with your body - once your temp rises and stays high you can safely say you have ovulated. It certainly prevents any needless pregnancy testing or worrying.

I came off the pill then had IUD fitted which fell out then got pregnant using diaphram all within 3 months and that was with trying NOT to get pregnant! I think it will be easier to pinpoint ovulation if your cycles are going to settle now and with them being regular when you do get pregnant you will be able to work out dates more easily but I think you stand a good chance of getting pregnant any time now your off the pill!
