Hi All!!

I was just wondering when I should change formula? I'm still expressing as much as I can - but it's slowly starting to tail off :( The rest of the time Arianna is on SMA Gold. She takes 5oz every 3hrs except she takes 7oz at about 10.30pm and she sleeps right through until between 7am and 8am

i didnt know you should change formulas?

is sma gold only fr babies who are having BM too?
Adele was just on aptamil the first one till she went onto cows milk at 9 months and Colby had to be put on aptamil extra (second one) because she was really hungry at 6 weeks and taking 6 oz but i couldnt get her to take anymore as she would be sick with too much milk.

Ask you HV about it but if shes ok with the sma gold i would just keep her on that one

hope this helps

I dunno to be honest with you.... hence why I posted the question!

I see all these different stages when I go to the store to buy formula.

you only need to u the formula when its not satisfying baby then you can go up to hungry baby milk. but harkey is 5months old and still on the first milk :)

dior was on sma gold untill i weaned her then i fully stopped sma gold when she was 1yrs old

I see you're using a :( when you talk about your milk tailing off? If you want to carry on breastfeeding, I would just keep offering the breast more, and maybe drop a formula feed? The more formula you give, the more your milk will dry up :(

Thanks Urchin,

Unfort Arianna has never taken milk directly from me (well no thats a lie... only ever 3 times). I've been to all the breast feeding groups going.. but still no joy!
So I have been expressing since she was born.
It just seems to be getting more and more difficult to get enough for her. Before I could fill a 8oz bottle no problem in one expressing now it's taking me 2 go to do it. I'm still doing it every day... same times so I haven't missed any.
I was thinking about getting an electric pump as I've been told they are more successful than the hand... just not sure if I want to pay all the moey if it's not going to help much!!
