Hi, my daughter just turned 1 on the 26th July and has 8/9 ounces of formula milk in the morning and before bed. I was just wondering when to change her to cows milk? I'm not sure if we should even change to cows milk? Should we change to toddler milk?

Any advice would be grateful x

Personally, I don't really see the point in toddler milk if your LO is eating well and taking vitamins. My sister on the other hand still gave her son toddler milk up until three. I think the main benefit of toddler milk is the added nutrition, vitamins etc, which you can achieve with food and vitamin drops with out having to fart about making formula.

My eldest was weaned early, on three meals a day by six months and only having two bottles of formula from about 7-8 months. We gave him vitamin drops as well. We just switched his milk gradually an ounce at a time to cows milk. He was on reflux milk which is why we did it gradually incase he didn't take it but he was fine.

My HV said not to bother with the follow on milk and she could stay on stage 1 until she was ready for cows milk. We kept her on formula until she was about 14 months as we were going to Egypt and thought formula would be better. She was only having a bottle at night by then and refusing them at other times. She loves cereal in a morning though and always asks for more milk on it. I started by just doing half and half together for a day or two and then moved over fully. X

Try introducing a few oz of cows in her bottles and see how she gets on. A lot of babies actually arnt ready for cows at 1!

My son is 16 months and he's on toddler milk because cows milk in bottles etc makes him really poorly - ( dietician referrals and stuff - long storey) a few of the other mums off this forum with kids same age is Oscar too havnt got theirs into cows yet. There's no major rush - maybe move to the toddler formula and Introduce a few oz at a time? Some babies flick over to cows with no problems

It really is trial and error :) to see what best suits your LO. X

We introduced cows milk in one of his bottles from 10.5/11ms and when he last tub of formula funished at 11.5m we switched completely xx

We introduced cows milk at 1, we started by putting a few oz of cows in his formula and then gradually increasing this and reducing the formula milk over the course of the week. He took it completely fine and we had no reaction and that was that!

He still absolutely loves his milk, and it's so much easier just pouring it out of a bottle from the fridge!
