OK - My LO is nearly 5 months and exclusively breasfed. Until 2 weeks ago he was waking for 2 feeds in the night.

Over the past 2 weeks this has gradually reduced to 1 feed in the night....

And the last 2 nights he's slept thru for the first time. Good for LO - but boobs feel like their gonna explode

This obviously means he's having 2 feeds a day less. Should I introduce another daytime feed to supliment him... he's current on 4 thru the day:

8.00am
12.00 lunchtime
3.30 pm
7.00 pm

I don't want to wean him for another month really - and he's happy enough in himself.

Thanks

Hi Zodiac,

My LO was exclusively breastfed at that age too (still is, just with solids too!) - I would advise you to just follow his lead. If he asks for more feeds during the day then give them, otherwise, enjoy your newfound freedom! He'll probably just take more or take longer per feed. I am a huge believer in following baby's lead for things like this and not getting too hung up on how much they are taking and when - he knows best.

Only other thing I would say is that if your LO has just started sleeping through and if you express regularly, you should keep that up or express quite a bit to freeze before your supply drops a bit. I found it more and more difficult to express once DD was sleeping through and my supply dropped - I still do it now, but for one feed I'll have to have 7 x expressing sessions, getting off 1oz per session, which is torture! So if you want to build up a supply for the freezer, do it now!

Ryan is on 5 ounce bottles and he goes from about half 10 to 8 in the morning. and just feed's every 3 hours during the day
