Your maternity leave girls?

I have to work it all out with my boss tomorrow and am two weeks late giving notice!! but due to xmas hols so i think they will be ok!

I am thinking of week 38 - am I being totally unrealistic? I want to try and work as far as I can up to the point of me giving birth :-))

I was in an office based job. I was given the new girl to teach about 3 months before due date so it was plenty of time to train and relax.
I gave 2 weeks notice when i should have actually given 28 days. But i left the day i turned 39 weeks. So i had 2 full weeks to relax. If i had to give the full notice i'd be there days before i was due. But thankfully they were fine about it as i was the first of the company to go on leave so they didn't know the policy anyway. Plus i felt it gave me more time with baby as i had a very easy pregnancy anyway.

Mine's due to start on the 7th feb when il be 30wks + 5 Days i know some might think it's a bit early but im in a job where im standing on my feet for 6hrs and constantly bending and lifting and im getting to the point where il be glad of the rest!

I went off on week 36 - I then went 2 weeks overdue so I wish I'd waited abit. Next time I will wait until 38-39 weeks :)

I start maternity leave on the 13th of February when i am 32wk+1 - i work from 7.45am - 5.30pm on my feet. Also due to the risk of toxoplasmosis i'm finishing early.

Thanks girls

Am just worried I will go late so dont want to waste my maternity leave.

I think I will say I will go to 39 weeks and then if i have to go off early I can use my holiday as I have 18 days to take etc

I'm going to be taking mine at about 35 weeks.. I am working a 60 hour week at the moment working 12 hour shifts at a time so there is no chance I'm going to be going almost full-term.. and I'm having an elected ceserean which will be booked in a couple of weeks before my due date.. which gives me a good couple of weeks to prepare for the birth and I wont be TOO bored..

It depends on your job really. If you have to stand up and move around lots then 34 weeks may be your limit. If you have a quieter more restful job you may be able to keep going until just before the birth!

I was signed off from 28 weeks and I can't tell you how bored I was!!! But I was unable to work. If you say you want to start your maternity leave at 39 weeks but then feel like you can't cope then remember that if you are signed off sick from 36 weeks your employer can put you straight on maternity leave.

I had a chat with my boss and HR and as I can work from home all being well I will work till 39 weeks but if i find it too much I will stop they said they are to be flexible so that was great! I have loads of holidays to take so can work that in so am v happy with the discussion. Am lucky they have been so brilliant!

Its starting to feel real!!

I work at a Veterinary Supplies and between February to late April we are very busy with the lambing season and unfortunatly my farming customers arn't very hygenic when it comes to lambing and there is a risk of Toxoplasmosis.

My maternity leave started when I was 36 weeks. I was in and out of hospital from week 33 onwards though. I lost alot of money as they didn't pay me any sick pay. I was induced at 37+ weeks so it was probably a good thing my maternity leave started when it did!

My company were awful to me during pregnancy. I work in retail which ment I was on my feet the whole time. Some days I was working 9 hour shifts and would be on my feet until my shift was over. If I had to do fitting room duty I wasn't allowed a chair either which ment standing on the spot for over 2 hours. They wouldn't even let me go to the loo or get drinks of water! I was also on the customer service desk which ment running all the way upstairs to use the pc in the office and then back down to tell the customer the price! Absolutely crazy!

I planned to finish at 29 weeks but that was because I wasn't happy with my safety as I was delivery driving and lugging stuff around dirty garages and I was getting rather large  . I got signed off with spd anyway at 27 weeks and was bored. If I was office based I probably would have worked until 34 weeks. Nice to have a little rest before baby arrives :D .

Week 30, but I had hols over xmas and new year ! so really started at 32 weeks, I have a manual job though and was struggling a bit !
