Started weaning Maisy at 4mths. She is 11mths today.
As she was weaned early, was wondering if it would be ok to give cows milk early. She is still on SMA White, didnt like progress.
Would be heaven not to have to make bottles anymore.
Just wondered if everyone waited till the 12mth mark.........

Cameron was about 11 months he started just before we went on holiday as i dd not want to take loads of milk and bottles away.
He took to it very easily and was eating well on a wide diet before he started.

i breast-fed for 8 months and my girl is also 11 months like yours, so she's been on formula for 3 months now and im fed up with it now too!
she only has 2 bottles a day and after her birthday i shall give cows' milk, but tbh as theyre so near to their birthdays now i dont think it would harm them to occasionally have it instead of formula. even just completely stopping the formula probably wont harm her now, as long as she gets lots of vitamins and minerals from solid food instead (as formula is fortified with them whereas cows' milk isnt, which is why babies shouldnt have cows milk)

I started not long before her 1st birthday - purely because I didnt want to go and buy another tin and the HV said it would be fine.

We'll be switching to normal milk after the tin of formula we're using now has ran out.

Should we buy full-fat milk though cos we normally just drink semi-skimmed? :?

I've used cows milk for Isaac's cereal for about 2months now, but he still has formula in his bottles twice a day, not sure when we'll switch to cows milk, think I'm going to switch one of his bottles soon but maybe keep the second formula, don't know  I don't think it matters if your LO isn't quite 1yr old, but would ask your HV if you're concerned

Pardon me for saying but 2 bottles a day doesnt sound much.......Maisy still has between 4-5 6oz bottles a day plus water

Lots of babies are down to 2 bottles a day as they reach 1. Ideally I would like Ryan to be the same but he still gets 3 or 4 bottles a day. That's partly because his Daddy insists on giving him one every time he cries and he's gotten so used to it  and also because he doesn't eat much so at least I know he's still getting what he needs from his milk :)

from about 9 months and yes much to daddys delight full fat (I get semi and wouldnt get him FF lol)

As long as LO is getting their daily intake frome being weaned as well as their bottles then it's quite normal for their bottles to decrease, just all LO's are different and some will drop them later than others. Isaac has anything up to 16oz of formula a day, plus breakfast, dinner, tea and snacks, he's fine :D I don't know how old your daughter is as you don't say, but her formula intake will lessen as all LO's do

Yup we only manage one bottle a day down oran, about 6oz before bed so we have to stock up yoghurts and cheese and calcium products through the day - before we switched to cows milk we were lucky if he drank 2oz of forular, thats one reason we switched cause he drank cows milk rather than nothing at all!!

Ryans on 2 bottles a day but has cream in cooked sauces, and fromage frais and yogurts.

Were only on 1 bottle a day here but desserts etc provide her with the calcium and nutrients she requires.

Im going to start with the cows milk in Imogens 11th month as i feel now is way too young.
