Hello everyone :)

I'm planning on fb our lo, exclusively to start with. After a few weeks I am going to express so dh can feed her too and am avoiding having formula in the house, as I think it could get too tempting to use (especially at 3 am lol). Anyways, I've been wondering about how long should I expect to be doing all of the feeds before being able to express. I know I'll need to wait for my supply to stabilise, but am clueless he long that takes. I had bad luck bf'ing my first lo and ended up ff by 8 weeks (she had weight gaining issues and I had supply and confidence issues). We're hoping he can feed her starting at around 6 weeks. Does that sound reasonable?

I think it sounds reasonable. My LO won't take a bottle at all now but I used to pump every day and store some in the freezer and a bit for my OH to try and feed her. I found that pumping once a day at 9-10pm a while after I put her to bed worked for me as she wouldn't wake until 2am. Some people like to pump in the morning as that's when you have the most milk.

Best of luck anyway and I hope things are better for you this time around xx

4-6 weeks is a good time :)

I know people who have introduced a bottle earlier but I think that's really asking for nipple confusion

See how you get on.. Don't over plan - LO may not take a bottle at 4 weeks but may at 6? Who knows :)

Everyone seems to have different views. My midwife thinks the same as me that you should introduce bottle early on as they don't actually know any different and stops them from preferring one to the other later on but general advice given is to wait until 6weeks. I will be trying after 1 week and if I have problems with him not taking breast after il just get some nipple shields to feed.
