If you feel up to it, i say go for it, just start really easy so you dont burn yourself out

I waited about 8 weeks before I went for a run, and that was with a section. So I guess for a normal delivery Id wait about 4/5 weeks. You know your body. Just dont go full out at first. :)

I was just thinking of a few squats and some sit ups it's coz I have clicky hips and they are really painful the only thing that has helped before is strengthening the muscles around them x

No sit ups before 6 weeks :shakehead: there's a danger you could permanently damage and seperate your stomach muscles :( xx

Ahhhh bugger!!

go for walks x

I walk everywhere, carrying Seb as often as I can, and I'm below the weight I was when I got pg! The walking has definately helps plus it makes me feel wonderful!

I'm now 1 stone 11pm lighter than before I was pregnant it's not the weight as such it's my hips joints from mon-fri I walk my daughter to and from school so that's 2nd walking a day and a big hill involved LO in sling and son in pushchair and DD when she is with us on back of push chair it's heavy lol!!

good thread, just to hijack-but on same idea!- can you run when breastfeeding?? I thought I still had hormones that mean my ligaments are more prone to injury but not sure? Used to run a lot before pregnancy so not done any for about a year, obv would take it v easy to start. What does anyone think about this??

i got a book about toning up and stuff hun and there was a special set of exercises to do post pregnancy on your tummy for a few weeks before you start on situps and that cos otherwise you'll end up with split muscles and will have a constant little bump you cant get rid of!

minchin - i'd say its ok xx

Just under two weeks to go!!!! Woop! Lol I think I had a constant little bump before I was even pregnant hahahahaha!

I always went back to ice hockey after 3 weeks with my babies, but just took it easy as had a section. I did leave the situps till later and the running. But like someone said as ling as you know your body, and don't push it - don't forget all otaht relaxin is still in your system with your ligaments softer and can be damaged

Anyone know whats recomended for swimming, as I can only do breaststroke, doing 30 lengths a day at the mo, while I can, but afterwards will stop for some weeks, but breaststroke surely majorly works stomach?
