.....in Antenatal Classes?

Havent got mine for another 8 weeks yet but I was just wondering what sort of things we will learn about/do?

Everywhere could be different but at mine we have covered numerous topics like:

Breathing
Giving birth & Positions to give birth in
How your partner can help
C/sections
Pain releif
What to take to Hospital with you
Breast & Bottle feeding

etc...

I was quite shocked at how late into the pregnancy that we have our antenatal classes thought they would be earlier I cant wait for them to start so that we can meet new people etc
xxxxxxxxxx

I am in such a dilemma about the antenatal classes. I registered for the NCT (national childbirth trust) classes but the nearest ones are in Royston which is about 20 mins away. I haven't heard about any others at my hospital yet. My friends have all raved about the NCT ones but one of my main reasons for these classes was to meet mums in my area and if the class is 20 mins away, it doesn't really help! Thing is I have to make a decision this week as the Royston class starts on 3rd Oct - help! Does anyone have any advice?

I have mine when im 30 weeks and 31 weeks..

only 5 weeks to go

it consists of all of the above... plus a tour of the hospital... where i'll give birth etc... **eeek**

but im excited :cheer:

and emotional health which i did today. App men can get PND too

ive got mine booked in for every monday in oct. The letter said i would need to bring a doll / teddy for the 3rd one (breastfeeding)!

Im quite looking forward to it. My mum made friends at hers when she has pregnant with me, who she still sees.

i went to 2 and they were a complete waist of time i did mine at 33 ish weeks and someone only got one lesson is as she gave birth early not that she missed ne thing lol

I went to one and never went back,i found it so boring and there was no one there our age (we were 20 at the time) Everyone else must have been in their 30's and made us feel like kids  ,most of the information given i had picked up from magazines anyway,i guess they vary in different areas though so i hope you girls enjoy it :D xx

i was still 17 for mine and the looks i got was amazing only one lady spoke to me and there was like 10 couples there GRRRR

All of the NCT ones in Reading are booked up - I phoned the day I was 12 weeks, but I'm 17th on the list. I'm looking into going to the local NCT mum and baby groups, as I think what I'd like more is support and friendshhip as I dont know anyone locally who's had a baby. I'm going to book myself and OH onto the NHS classes.
