I just read the Golden Compass the other day for the first time, I read the Subtle Knife last night and I've had to go out today especially to buy the Amber Spyglass. I can't believe I've never read them before, they're brilliant. :cheer:

Whats everyone else reading just now???

Brasyl - it's a sci-fi book set in the past, present & future. Not entirely sure what it is all about yet as I have only just started it, but it seems quite good.

I'm reading through two books at the moment:

Snow White, Blood Red - Ellen Datlow & Terri Windling...a collection of adult fairy tales based on old original ones.

Journey of Souls - Michael Newton...(one of my usual wacky books  ) about what may happen to souls between death and being reborn. An interesting book if you believe in reincarnation.

Just finished Stephen King's IT. I thought it was really good and much better than the film. Not read any King before but I do like the way he writes - he's so descriptive. It did give me the creeps late at night though!

I'm reading the first Dexter book and it's really good.

Just finished Hotel Babylon book

I've been reading some crime novels I picked up at charity shops.
Very disapointed with Val McDermid (so obvious) but Minette Walters is cool :)

tenth circle by Jodi Picoult. In think her book are a bit samey but all the other books ive tried latelt have been rubbish so I wanted something I knew I would like. Not that I ever get a chance to read much at the moment

I have been reading "The Ghost Road" by Pat Barker for a book club I go to (Minxy cheated and listened to the tape) LOL
It's a WW1 story following a soldier and a doctor, not as boring as it sounds, quite good really, not something I would usually choose to read :)

Now i need to finish "Seize the night" by Dean Koontz as that's been on hold while I read the other one, it's more my kind of story, a kind of mystery about a missing child but with supernatural-type things going on too.

I've just finished The Kiterunner by Khaled Husseini (sp) it's not very often that a book brings a tear to my eye but this one did.

I've been reading through all Harry Potter books, currently 3/4 through the order of the phoenix 8)

Monster of the Madidi.

Don't bother reading it because they don't find it

Next I'm going to read a book I have borrowed from my mum called Escape which is a true story of a mother and her children's lives and eventual escape from a religious cult.

The House at Riverton by Kate Morton, my friend said its the best book she ever read!

I normally read loads, but haven't done much at all since being pg, I blame the forum!

I've just had to take the amber spyglass back to the library after having it for about 6 months and only getting less than a quarter of the way through! It was getting too overdue and I know that I'd never finish it before the baby arrives!

I might get round to reading it in a few months when the babys older! I loved the other books in the 'His dark materials' series.

I loved jouney of souls, and the sequel destiny of souls, they made a lot of sense to me and I found them very comforting :)

Urchin, I though I might start and go to a bookclub that our local Waterstones does but I've never been before - what should I expect? I have in my head that we will all sit in a circle and talk about what we got out of the book....

....but I hope I'm getting muddled with what I've seen AA meetings to be like on the TV, cos thats doesn't sound too exciting.

Who chooses the books you read? Is it mostly the bestsellers you read?
