I had an antenatal appointment yesterday and was told to come back next week for an SCC, does anyone know what that means?
They said they wanted to give me an internal exam too, are they related?
What are they looking for with internal exams? I'm really worried aboput it :(

Thank you for any help :D

Sorry I cannot help Katarina, I tried a Google search but couldn't find anything  They really should have explained what it was, it's not good they don't explain these abbreviations, it just causes upset, could you phone your surgery/hospital to check with them exactly what it entails, I'm sure they wouldn't mind

aww, i'm sorry i dont know, you'd think they'd have explained it to you wouldnt they?

Dunno what a SCC is but internals they are looking for how far dilated you are and the state of the cervix, how far back it is etc. It doesnt hurt at all.

Wondering if an SCC is something to do with a membrane sweep?

Isn't SCC something to do with "sickle cell crisis" typically linked with thrombophlebitis or preeclampsia? SCC tests tend to be bloods or fluids tested in the lab to determine cell counts - don't quote me on this I'm not 100% certain but I'm sure that's what it is.
