Hi girls Wave

Just wanted to know what you girls would like to be given as a present or what would be a nice idea?

My friend is due to give birth on 2nd April, money is very very tight. She has a little one aged 21 months.

I have bought her everything she needs for the baby for the first 3 months, I hated the thought of her struggling she would not been able to afford it so I thought instead of buying lots of silly things that would get thrown away or sit in a cupboard, I bought all the essentials bit by bit over the last few months.

This is what I have bought

Nappies
Wipes
Bottles
Formula
Soothers
Breast Pads
Maternity Pads
Shampoo's
Baby bath
Cotton Wool
Cotton Buds
Sudocream
Bibs
Clothes - Vests, babygrows, tops, trousers, socks
Little pram shoes

She has her travel system, cot bedding etc all from the first baby.

But I want to get something for her, have you any suggestions that could help me?

Thank you Hug Hug

A special first outfit, if you don't already have it, going to get Isaac's framed in a box frame when I get around to it  I think something you can keep would be a good idea, you can get booties bronzed if you've lots of cash :D Might just be me but I always spend my pennies on Isaac anyway, some Mummy's prefer gifts around their LO than themselves, you can go a bit babymad though heehee Make her some babysitting, make-a-meal, long bathtime, vouchers.. time is precious as a new Mummy :)

Hmm, how about a pamper session at a local salon? It's one of those things you can never treat yourself to when money is tight and is a good perk up to getting back to your old self.

Or maybe clothes vouchers? Something I would defo like after all this as all I have been buying is stuff that will be torn big and worn out by the end!

Aww that's so lovely of you!

Hmmm.. How about making something? Like a lovely little gift box or something out of a shoe box? I think that would be so lovely, and it'll be great to give to her because of the love, effort and thought that went into it :D

xx

I think they're quite pricey, but there must be some that aren't. Those mummies pamper yourself boxes, with lovely milky bubblebath or something? I've not been a new mum yet, not sure how much that would be used?

When my friends made up a basket for me when I had DS1, they put some fab bubble bath stuff in, it was Boots Lavender stuff, but it just felt SO heavenly.
How about some Stretchmark type creams? Aloe Vera is good, or Cocoa butter.
A mini manicure set type of thing?

Personally I wouldnt want a Pamper session. After having a baby(ies), the last I wanted was to take my clothes off for strangers!

I always used to make pamper baskets for the mum, very rarely buy for the baby coz everyone else does. Put stuff in that is an indulgence like bath bombs, nice quality moisturiser, eye cream, bath confetti that kinda thing :)

an offer of baby sitting if she just needs some time for herself?

Sandi

A bottle of pink champagne or cava mmmm - and the babysitting idea is fab x

Thank you all for your replies, sorry for not replying earlier, I only get on on an evening when LO's are in bed.

I wanted to stay away from the traditional smellies I mean creams lotions etc. I do like the sound of a spa or massgae etc, I don't think she will have a problem stripping off she is so so tiny her bump is the size of 26 wks

What could I give initally? I think I will go for the pampering session. I'm always offering to babysit, have even told her I will look after her LO while she is in, told her to pack a little bag for her so all she has to worry about is herself and babe.

I am worried about her though, maybe it's just me hormones!!

Thanks girls

You could try and do something practical for her which wouldnt cost you any money as such like do the weekly shopping for her, cook a few meals she can freeze and defrost on the day for easy cooking, do some chores around the house. Little things like that...

OK I gave this a great deal of thought

If its a present for me then

Steak blue, with melted Stilton on top in a fresh white baguette roll

Chorizo - lots of, served in warm pittas with salad, cheese and dressing

*drools*

If its for baby then things like a foot and hand print set. Always good to make hand and foot prints when still small to keep.

I've just bought my sister a foot and hand print set. I did one for my baby last week, and wished I had done one when she was smaller.

I am also making her a little blanket for her baby. A friend is a professional embroiderer and will embroider on the name and birth date as soon as the baby is born. I am making it out of white fleece and blue or pink satin. I had to buy both colours because my sister wants her baby to be a surprise! Given the way she has been planning to behave after it's born, I think it's probably going to be a big surprise! But that's another story :)
