have been thinking but what would you normally is labour in early stages while in hospital + in later stages ?

I took a nightie - an old one but got stripped and put in a hospital gown but by then I couldn't have cared less and wanted to be naked

Mine was a spontaneous labour that started at 4am. So i went to the hospital in my nightie. When i got there at 6am i was 7cm and bloody hot! To mine and everyone elses surprise i was stripped naked as i couldn't bear anything on me as i was so hot! They put a fan on my face til i started pushing!
I think something loose and comfortable is best. But you won't care once you're in there!

In labour i just wore a vest top. I didnt plan what i was going to wear i just stripped off my jumper and trousers and that was it

I wore a long cheap nightie and some pj bottoms. When I was on the hosputal bed they stripped the trousers off to examine me but I still had the 'dignity' of the nightie the whole way through

I went out especially and bought loose fitting nighties for both my labours but didnt actually wear them with either birth! For my first, I arrived at hospital in jogging bottoms and a vest top which I had been labouring in at home and just stayed in these until things got intense and then the bottoms came off!! TBH finding the time or inclination to change my clothes when trying to deal with the contractions wasnt really a priority  With my second baby I again arrived in joggers and a vest (spookily wearing the same joggers as my first birth 3 years previously! ) but as I had a waterbirth everything came off when I got in the pool as I was so damn hot! I never thought for a minute I would feel comfortable being naked in front of strangers but you really dont care when you're in the thick of it :rotfl:

Most of the time I was in my bathing suit top, but once I was transferred I was in a vest with a built in shelf bra. I wished that I was in a nursing vest though, because then I could have unclipped the side with all of the drips (I had to get fluids and syntocin in the end) and gotten the whole thing off. Instead, when I wanted skin to skin I had to take the other side off and just let it hang on the tubes, which was pretty uncomfortable.

I didnt get chance to change, bath or anything and my labour bag wasnt packed!
But would suggest comfortable clothing for after for me it was jog pants and tops and to be honest i live in them indoors still now, plus plenty of pjyamas which i never owned until now! :D

When I arrived at the hospital I was only 1-2cms dilated but stayed in, I was wearing jeans and a jumper. After they said they were going to keep me in I changed into my nightie. It was about 10pm anyway.

i wore an old nighty in labour with all mine and im doing the same this time

I wore a hospital gown as I didnt want to ruin any of my own nighties but was totaly stripped when it was time to deliver

I spent weeks looking for the perfect nightie when I was pregnant with my first son. I finally found one that I felt comfortable in and put it on as soon as I went into labour. About an hour later my waters exploded all over it so I ended up in a backless hospital gown with my rear end hanging out anyway - very attractive

Id recommend something lightweight that you dont mind getting ruined but like the others say, when it comes to it you really wont care. Im the most prudish person on the planet and when I was in labour I had my legs in stirrups, puking up, 3 midwives, 1 registrar, my DH and a male paediatrician in the room. There could have been a brass band marching thorugh as well and I wouldnt have cared less lol!

just get a cheap big nightie from primark for about £2

up until 5 cm dilated i was in joggy bottoms and cami vest (it was june) then after MWs got here became a bit of a blur (of pain lol) i ended up naked- the MW stripped me off and i was in no state to object! didnt mind as was at home tho so felt comfortable only infront of my boyf and the 2 MWs. x

I was induced 13 days overdue so I was prepared. I wore a nightie that I got from Asda. I wore it the night before as I was kept in for the night by morning I was ready to be taken round to the labour suite to have my waters broken for me. The trainee midwife gave me one of those horrible stiff gownies to wear but I asked her if I could wear my nightie as it would make me feel more comfortable. It was no problem at all and I felt better knowing I was wearing something comfortable and something familiar as I had practically wore it every day in the last month (washed every morning!! lol). I also kept my socks on for some weird reason. The next day my mum took the nightie home for me, washed it and brought it back for me all clean so I could wear it again. I had only got a bit of blood on the back but it came out in the wash and I still wear it. It has a special meaning for me now.

If I had gone into labour naturally I have no idea what I would have done. I would have had a nightie packed but I probably would have forgotten about it with the labour!

sometime i wore a big t-shirt and took a dressing gown if i went for a walk but because mine are pretty quick i end up naked with a sheet over me better for staying cool as well plus normally when you are in the early stages they will advise you stay at home :D
