Mia is still being really sick after nearly every feed and it's a lot of sick. It just floods out and then she's crying because she's hungry again! The reflux meds don't seem to be doing anything but I know they can take a while. What would you do? My hubby wants to take her back to a&e and mg parents are really worried too and have offered to pay to go privately. I just dont know how long to leave her being sick before doing something! X

And she's sick in her sleep in her Moses basket. We're getting really worried :(

I wud take her back tbh, she might not be getting enough milk if she is bringing a lot up. It cant do any harm to take her back or get a 2nd opinion!!
Hope she is ok!!
xxx

Dont know much about reflux hun but sounds like you need to take her to someone fof your own peace of mind. Hope she settles down for you soon. x

Ask them to do allergy tests for milk protein too but I would take her. Hope you get it sorted soon xxxxxxx

If you think she is vomiting more than what she is taking and is at risk of becoming dehydrated and losing weight then she needs to be seen quickly.

I have a sicky baby. She would drench muslins and I had to change her clothes several times a day. In our case though, the docs were quite reluctant to do much and weren't that interested because she was thriving so she was obviously getting enough.

Every time they see her they comment on how healthy she looks but her weight gain hasnt been great. I fact I was confused because according to the hv and midwife scales she's gained 7oz since birth but according to the hospital ones she was below birth weight?!!
She still has wet nappies and poos once a day so she is obviously getting something. Surely the domperidone to stop the sickness should do something tho!
I'm having to change her loads and sometimes she's sick up to a couple of hours later. Xx

if it was me id go to my gp tom and ask for a referral to a paediatrician, ive got a feeling its a milk allergy and she may need prescription milk,as i said before my friends son had the same symptoms and the dr gave her all the meds youve got and they didnt work and he ended up being allergic t6 dairy dairwork

oops meant allergic to dairy, she took him to the cranial osteopath to as he wouldnt sleep and was really constipated and cried all the time, that helped loads then he is on special milk and omeprazole thats helped the reflux

We are seeing the gp tomz anyway as he teaches students and wanted us to take her in for them to 'study'. He said on Friday that we'd see how things were then. He could see how exhausted and worried we are and I'm hoping he may have a suggestion!
My hubby just told me this morning that he used to be allergic to cows milk and he also suffers with eczema and asthma which can all be linked.
She needs to be weighed too, to check if she's gained anything.
Poor little thing :(

Oh how horrible :( hope you get an answer soon. If she isn't gaining weight there's really something wrong. But it's good that she still has wet and dirty nappies xxxx

i bet it is a milk allergy, what has her weight been like? What was her birth weight?

I'd go get some sma wysoy formula and try it for one feed x

At the more serious end of the scale get the doc to look for Pyloric Stenosis, although rare in girls it does happen.

R had this he was throwing up 100%of every feed by the time we caught it, he was losing weight you could see it on him.

It involves a simple operation to fix it but is a bitch to diagnose, the only true way is an ultrasound, Pyloric Stenosis is a tightening of the muscle at the top of the intestine it means food cannot go through the intestine like normal which means it all gets upchucked pretty much straight away, the vomit is projectiole but R had some dribbly ones.

He is very much better now as well and putting on weight :)

Please go the reflux route first though as like I say Pyloric is rare in girls but it has been known.

as your GP for an alternative dairy free milk to try on presccription hun if you thinks its an allergy dont go and buy soya milk as doctors dont like it for babies until at least 6 months of age as it can rot there teeth before they have even come through its worth a shot anything is!

hoep you get some answers soon xxx

Soya isnt recommended for babies under 6 months, push them.for prescription hydrolised formula. If it is.CMA, you will see a.difference quickly

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

Wss

Also it's fairly common for babies with a milk protein allergy to also have a soy protein allergy too and therefore something like Nutramilgen would be best.

I know you tried SMA LF but that's soy based and therefore prob why you didn't see any lasting results when she was on it. I think you should push for the hydrolysed formula too.

Good luck hunny, it's been so hard for you and you're doing so well for bring a brilliant Mummy by pushing to find out what's wrong.
Xxxx

i bet it is a milk allergy, what has her weight been like? What was her birth weight?

She weighed 8lb at birth, lost 1oz when I was breastfeeding her then gained 6oz. Last week at 3 weeks old she had only gained another 1oz and this was after she stopped feeding properly and was being sick. She's had problems with pain right from when my milk came in, I stopped breastfeeding to try lactose free and then the sick problems started. We saw a paediatrician at a&e when we took her in and she diagnosed reflux. She did mention cows milk allergies at the time but after examining her and listening to what we said she was satisfied it was reflux.

Now bringing us up to speed with today I have to say this baby is confusing the hell out of me!!! She was last properly sick at 5am and since then we had a little sick at her next feed but nothing since. She has slept and behaved like an angel with no indication of pain when she's been fed. She's woken for feeds nearly every two hours and had 2oz each time!! I did wonder whether to offer her more but I know little and often is best with reflux and last time when she took 4oz in one go she screamed in pain for 3 hours so I'd rather not put us both through that!!!
So my problem is, is the medication now kicking in or is this just a good day? Every time she seems a little better I get my hopes up so I'm not looking too much into it at the moment!!
She has actually been content after feeds today!

Dr did mention that condition to do with the muscle in the tummy. Can't remember what it was called now. I will see what he says tomz and I've looked into formulas for reflux babies too. They do thickened feeds which should help xx

My experience of reflux is that you have good days and bad days. Overloading the stomach causes more vomit though so try to feed little and more often as you are doing.

I hope you get some answers, don't let them fob you off if they try to. Xx
