i do with my wedding dress ?? do i put it away up in the loft or do i sell it and let someone else have the pleasure of wearing it do people even buy secound hand wedding dresses ??? xx

If i ever get married ( that i do  ) I would Keep it as i would like to give it to Keeley as a option to wear when she gets married :)

I tried to sell mine on ebay to see if I could get some money back from it but no one wanted it and I was reluctant to let it go for nothing! It;s now just sitting in my wardrobe doing nothing!

I've kept mine to give my kids the option of using it when they are older. Some people cut it and get a christening gown made out of it for their LO's

I couldnt sell it - means too much to me!

Mines just sat in a suit case under Jessicas bed. I won't part with it but no one would want it anyway, I was 6 months pregnant and I got ripped on the day

For what my dress originally cost I'd want a fair whack back for it if it got sold 2nd hand - I'm having a boy so no chance of passing it to him in years to come thus I'm having it made into his Christening gown. That way I can keep it in a sense without having it taking up masses of space in the airing cupboard or under the beds etc. I'll never wear it again and having the Christening gown made from it means I know it started as our wedding dress but will end up (I hope) being worn by my son and fingers crossed his children and their children etc in years to come. Easier to keep a baby gown than a huge wedding gown.

Some branches of Oxfam will buy them 2nd hand from you as will a lot of bridal gown shops etc. Bear in mind though that despite it costing say £1,200 when bought new they will want to re-sell it for about £500-£700 (despite only 1 use!) and thus you'll only get £200 for it, if that. If you sell to somewhere like Oxfam they like to sell the gowns for around the £200 marker so you'll get peanuts. Worth doing some research into there are bridal stores who specialise in 2nd hand gowns, you might be better off contacting them first.

I couldn't have mine sitting around for years on end, no space for such a huge box and I have the accessories (veil, tiara etc) and the christening gown so I'm quite happy with that. I might have kept it had I of had a daughter.

I've kept mine, it's hung up in a protective bag. I'm never gonna get rid of it (unless we divorce, haha!!!)

Yes people do buy second hand dresses but I imagine you'd have to sell them for much less than what you paid for them.

Ive kept mine, means to much to me to sell it, mines in the loft along with all my wedding bits :)

mine is in the bag still at my mums in her spare room dont really know what to do with it, i would like to give it to willow but it is huge it is a size 26   and i hope she doesnt get as big as me.

I want to make mine into a christening gown - myself, ok prob a terrible idea as i have newer sewn but I think it is such a nice idea, gonna give it a try, there is masses of material for a few errors

Mines still sitting in the dress bag in the wardrobe where I put it the day we got back from the wedding.

I really couldn't bare to part with it at the moment though....it's too soon.

I can't even bare to put all my wedding stuff away yet without crying!!!!

My Mum dyed hers and kept it as an evening dress (which she could get away with since she was married in the 70s and it was fairly simple).

Mine is easily usable as a party dress anyway, since it's blue velvet and was partially chosen with that sort of dual use in mind.

You could maybe keep it in the loft for your daughter? My friend got married in her Mum's wedding dress which neatly covered the 'something borrowed' bit.

i would sell it, but im goin to buy second hand anyway. my mum saved hers for me or my sister and i wouldnt dream of wearing it lol it might have looked great 25 yrs ago but not what id see myself in. if it is good material and plain you could save it to pass it on and the they could have it altered to there own taste when they get married but i dont even like the colour of my mums. or using it to make something else is a good idea too

xxxx
