what season for a wedding?

We got married in July just gone. I picked July as I thought it would be sunny! All I wanted was the weather to be fine to have the photos outside but the rain woke me up at 5am on the morning of the wedding! Did manage to have a few photos with the sun poking out of the clouds but ended up having most of our photos at the venue outside - it wasn't raining at the time but the sky was grey. I had to have photos outside as thats why I picked the venue!

When we went looking for bridesmaid dresses I found a lovely red colour but it wouldn't work for summer, then I wish I'd pick winter. But I had a fab day & wouldn't have changed anything now looking back.

(Another reason it was in July was so DH could go to the Download Festival for i stag do & I cpould go to Ladies Day at Ascot! That was definately the main reason for the time of year!)

We got married on August 5th 2006. We were really lucky with the weather, it was the only dry day that week!

I think if we were to do it again Id go with a winter wedding, the weather is so pants in summer now. I went to a winter wedding a few years ago and it was gorgeous. All candles and hot buffet, I loved it.

Cant wait to hear what you decide, like you say each season has its pros and cons!

We got married on 31st March - was a bit of a gamble with the weather but it was a bright sunny day with no rain and on our first wedding anniversary, it was also very warm and sunny so thats 2 years running its been nice that time of year.

Only drawback was that we didnt realise that the Easter holidays started the Monday after the wedding and so we had to postpone our honeymoon by 3 weeks because of the increased prices and the fact that it would be busy with kids (we went to Florida). When we did eventually go on 21st April, it was brilliant because it was so quiet and the weather was fab

I had to get married in Summer because I'm a teacher and can't take time off work BUT it rained all day.. I think you might have a better chance of a dry day in Autumn or winter!

we are getting married in august - so I picked Autumn cos it is to me

We didnt get married but we planned to in October! I love October and the cool autumn and orange leaves falling! My favourite season so naturally the one I would have got married in! :D

My wedding (now divorced) was 2nd January 1999. Had a civil edding at a country house hotel, small d0-40 people and a bigger evening party.

I am a winter person-hate getting my body out in summer so I ended up in a gorgeous medevial gold gown with lace over coat thingie and bidesmaids in bottle green velvet and silk-it was a lovey day! Only downside was we lost a few evening guests to flu and those who were all partied out over festive period!!! LOL

If OH ever decide to marry, I think Spring or Autumn could be nice, just not summer for me!

I can see you Autumninal (SP??!!) but I have voted Winter :) xxxx

P.S Congrats!!
P.P.S You will have the cutest bridesmaids ever

i got married in the middle of may and it was just perfect.

the colours in the photos are amazing - spring greens and pink blossom. and it was warm enough to be out in short sleeves without any of the boys in suits getting hot and sweaty

We got married in Dec but it was in Jamaica so still hot :D

We got married in the spring (April 11th 2004 which happened to be Easter Sunday). It was lovely because the venue grounds hare covered in daffodils so that was nice. We didn't have a hot day but it was bright enough and dry.

We got married on 2nd of December.
We did too in 2006.

I loved having a winter wedding, it was a beautiful day. It was a bit cold but when we got into the reception venue there were huge log fires, christmas decorations everywhere, it just made everyone really warm inside. It was really snuggly.

I voted for summer. A good day in winter would be with lovely white snow lying on the ground etc but realistically, its more likely to rain than snow! So I think with summer you have a better chance of a "good" day for that season lol.

We got married on 1st Oct 2006

We had the worst thunderstorms and rain for ages Oh nearly didnt make it due to roads being flooded and i was very upset but just as i was leaving to go to the venue the sun came out and it stayed dry until the end of the night, i even have a photo of me getting out of the car and i am in gloreus sunshine but behind me is a big back minging cloud.

Im getting married in October so ill tell you after the 18th what it was like ;)

We got married on 30th april which means the weekend after our anniversary is always a bank holiday weekend so we'll get an extra day to celebrate every year. We were really lucky had fantastic weather but not uncomfortably hot.

But as nice as it was having a spring wedding, halfway through the preparations, after everything was booked, I decided I'd have preferred a christmas wedding. I love christmas and the decorations would have been easy to organise and I've seen some lovely wedding dresses for christmas/winter (mind you I'd have had to lose about 5 stone to look good in them but hey) but I was stuck with spring by then.
