I’m 4 1/2 weeks pregnant and am scared to do exercise. I have read it’s best to stay active but does anyone else have this fear? What sort of exercises are you doing?

This is my first pregnancy so I am nervous about everything during the first trimester.

I’m 17 weeks pregnant and have had this fear to.
Pre pregnancy I was super fit, a massive gym bunny really and would do high intensity workouts 4 times a week.
I haven’t done any exercise whilst being pregnant due to being quite ill throughout but I have spoken to midwives/trainers before and they have said exercise is fine.

If your into cardio don’t do it to the point where you are sweating and out of breath to the max.
If you are a lifter monitor your weights and don’t increase the volume, go light for more reps.
A rule of thumb is to make sure you can hold a conversation.

Also, I’d like to point out that prior to this pregnancy I have had two miscarriages. My first mc I exercised and my 2nd I didn’t..they both ended in a loss.

Listen to your own body and do what’s manageable for you.

Thank goin so much for responding. Glad I’m not alone in this fear. I think I might get a PT the first few months to help me find safe exercises. Good luck with your little miracle:)

With my first I continued going to gym till the last day. It made delivery sooooo sweet. No drugs. Water birth. First half I did adjusted aerobics, second half I just walked. A LOT . Now I'm lazy I think I'll just stick to walking. Remember to Check with your Dr first.

I used to go the gym four to five times a week high intensity I had cut back to three times a week and walling every day. I have found swimming really good and comfortable, I have halved my weights and just doing more reps and cardio wise just walking on treadmill or going on the bike - I was told as long as could hold a conversation and not sweating like mad it was fine to continue I didn’t start again until 9 weeks as was scared and generally felt rubbish but slowly getting back into it and my midwife recommended it too you will know I did a bit too much one day and could defo feel it just listen to your body x
