Hi guys just wanted to know how much stuff is everyone washing for little 1. I'm not going to wash everything I have as there is just too much stuff, it's time consuming, costly and not necessary I think. I've decided to wash all the vests, sleepsuits, towels, stuff for hospital bag and that's about it really. Tshirts and bottoms ( them kind of items) I'm not going to bother. Is that bad?

Everyone is different.
Me personally I am washing every single thing. Clothes, vest, sleepsuits, blankets etc...
I still to this day wash all my 3 year old daughters clothes before she wears them, as I do my own too. And all new bedding etc and things we buy.

My personal opinion is that things might seem clean but are not always. And you don't know if they have been in someone else's house and returned etc.

I wouldn't wash everything at once as there were somethings my LO just didn't wear and had I left the tags on I could have changed them for bigger sizes in the shop. Wash the vital stuff and then wash before they wear as you go along.

Personally I think that the most important bits to wash is vests as they are next to your baby's skin and sleepsuits as they are in them all night. X

Everyone is different. For me, if it's washable - I wash it! At the end of the day you don't know who was touching the stuff x

Forgot to mention I'll be washing all bedding too :) I think washing as u go is a good idea. Might wash the Newborn stuff to start with then move on to 0-3. :)

I'm just sticking things in with our stuff and doing a bit at a time - we're using non-bio anyway so it's fine for baby's stuff. I haven't found it time consuming so far - just shoved it all in with our washing and that's that. We haven't bought that much really so not planning on taking anything back - might exchange gifts for different sizes etc but for now all the tags have come off and everything's been washed. X

I've got some non bio in ready to get started on washing his stuff. Think I should have washed stuff as I got it but it's all away I'm the wardrobe and draws ha ha.

I wash every new item so I know it's clean of factory processes etc, but hand me downs have gone straight on (assuming I know who it's come from).

I washed every item before lb arrived, it helped my nesting behaviour. Ironing tiny tiny clothes is a pain though.

I wash everything. New clothes often contain chemicals used in the factory to give garments a wrinkle-free look in the shop, and they're not required to disclose this on the label unfortunately.

For instance, formaldehyde resin is common, it's a colourless gas that is applied to the clothes to stop them from wrinkling and reduce the chance of mildew during transport. It has been linked to eczema and skin irritation. Also, surplus dye can still remain in the fabric - and can cause skin irritation.

I havent washed anything this time apart from hand me downs. I was in hospital over a week when I had my little girl and my husband had to go out and buy her loads of new vests and sleepsuits which just went straight on so I've not bothered this time. I also don't have a nesting instinct either so might have done them if I did.

I washed everything last time - I wish I hadn't as I bought stuff that never got worn and had it had tags on I could have returned it. I'll wash vests and sleep suits ready but other stuff I will wash as I go. I always use fairy non bio anyway.

I don't wash new things for my 2 year old now, nor do I was new clothes I've bought... Guess it's personal choice.

x

I didn't wash anything last time it never occurred to me!! Glad though as I had a ton of clothes I took back and swapped as he outgrew them before he wore them!!
This time we've only bought one outfit which is the going home outfit, I have washed it as my ds dragged it along the floor at the checkout in mothercare!!!!! Rest of the clothes are going to be his hand me downs until we find out the gender, and I know they are clean as I washed them then vacuum packed them!

Ummm I am washing absolutely everything haha

Firstly I have some second hand clothes so just wanted to freshen them up! So I have washed all second hand and all the new clothes I have bought.

Then I will be washing all the bedding and blankets I have bought, all the covers for things like the bouncer, car seat, baby gym etc (again though all of these are second hand to save money)

I just want anything that baby will use nice and clean. Although if everything was new I probably wouldn't wash the covers!

I've washed everything because I was born with excema and super sensitive skin and although I hope baby doesn't inherit this I thought I should be safe. If something has been in the shop a while it's often dusty. X
