What have you eaten today? - Healthy eating in pregnancy

ooh i have skittles that i got for free off their facebook page!
today i have eaten macdonalds and a cream cake, that is all
o and some toast this morning
 
This is a brilliant thread.

- Breakfast: A bowl of readybrek and a coffee
- Dinner: Tomato soup and some bread
- Then I Popped my iron tablet and vitamins!
- I've not long had a potnoodle because I was starving and couldn't wait until tea time.
- A bag of salt and vinegar crisps

- And for tea we're having chicken curry with rice and possibly some chips or jacket potatoes!

Readybrek is brilliant by the way, It's full of iron and vitamins.
I recently got told my iron levels were low so I bought some readybrek and iron tablets and I feel much better :) I'm less tired than I was and I probably look less pale too xxx
 
I've not had anything yet - I never normally eat until after 10am at least anyway!

Got my usual 2 small slices of wholemeal toast, I'll have it with humous today I think.

Got some pineapple as well to snack on.

Lunch is a kiddies ready meal from M&S with some salad. I have a fruit salad and some cheerios if I get hungey later!

Dinner will be cajun chicken, spring onion mash, homemade coleslaw and salad.

I may pick up a litlte something for dessert - I normally have a few glasses of wine with dinner over the weekend but as I am off the booze surely I deserve a little treat??

I'm out for lunch tomorrow with some friends - have told them I am antibiotics so they won't question my non drinking.

We're going to a place that does wonderful homemade burgers so I am going to have a yummy burger, and chips (I'll have soup for dinner tomorrow though!)

Yesterday I was pretty good until the evening:

Breakfast - Yogurt
Lunch - Mini pizza with coleslaw and salad
Snack - Banana and water melon
Dinner - Sweet and sour chicken and rice, with extra veggies
Snacks - Crisps and peanuts (just a handful of peanuts)

Thank god they say peanuts are ok now I'm a little obsessed with peanut butter!

So far I haven't managed to stomach anything but orange juice, keep feeling sick :sick: Maybe try some Readybrek in a bit as my iron levels were a bit dodgy before I found out I was pregnant.

As for not drinking I've had to offer to drive everywhere I'm not sure how I'm going to last another 2 months without being found out! xxxxxx
 
LOL Taffy - I love a glass of wine so am worried that friends / family are going to cotton on before I tell them.

Also I have my Xmas do at a very posh place in early December - lots of complimentary champers will be flying about.

I am going to have to work on my excuse for that!!

Maybe have a sneaky word with the person behind the bar and get them to put appletiser in a champagne glass :) I have a works do mid December so am going to really try and get my scan before then as it's a family business so it would be lovely just to be able to tell people xxx

I guess I'll use the wisdom tooth / antibiotics excuse again :shock:

I'll def make the most of the food though - we're going to a very nice steak place and I've not had steak in forever. Nom, nom!

I am finding that food doesn't taste as nice as it should? I prepared a lovely filled pitta uesterday with all the things I normally love (feta, Mini falafel humous) but I didn't enjoy it! Iw as meant to have the same today but I had to throw all the stuff away today as the thought of eating it again makes me want to vom!

Also I don't want to get too greedy just because I am preggers. Both my sis and S-I-L put on a lot of weight during pregnancy as they both over indulged (lots of take aways, biscuits, crisps etc)

I know my appetite is going to increase and I expect to gain a fair bot of weight but I do want to try and stay healthy - although now I wont get my weekly wine fix I def need a treat to look forward to LOL!

So today:

Breakfast 2 slices 'best of both' toast
glass milk
Lunch - savoury rice, big salad and small grilled chicken breast
Tea - homemade chips with sausages and baked beans
again no fruit, just can't eat it i usually love eating fruit its so weird! But i'm drinking cartons of fruits juice!
Juice having a cupa tea with a couple of chocs from a choc box we got from hotel chocolate!

Whats wrong with me?! I can eat salad when with warm food like rice and i can eat warm veg but just not stomack veg!!!
 
Lets see..Today i had:
- 4 packets of squares, yes four packets :lol:
- Coffee this morning
- Countless swags of coke (One was to take my amoxycillin)
- Chips and gravy from the takeaway.

Oh and a pot noodle for later if i get hungry again :D

Not exactly the most balanced diet in the world but it was what i fancied at the time :D

Let's see today I've had:

Breakfast - Readybrek (thank you TiffanyJayne for the tip about Readybrek being rich in iron)
Lunch - 2 veggie sausages with salad and pasta salad, then a banana and water melon
Dinner - Lamb steak, mash and leeks and a clementine

Just finished the eve with a hot chocolate while my OH tucks into a beer - I know very rock and roll!! xxx
 
Oh my!! yesterday was a food day! We had friends over for dinner so cooked a 3-course meal from scratch with my little sisters help xxx
Breakfast: usual bran flakes and raisins,
lunch: cheese and tom sandwich with some OJ
dinner.....wait for it!!!!
starter: hot mozzarella & tomato salad,
mains: stuffed roast pork loin, cabbage,peas and leeks, dauphinoise potatoes and
Pud: sticky toffee pudding and custard YUMMY!!!!
That was one well fed baby and mummy yesterday

It was pretty nice....oh and the crackling was not bad either....v indulgent but scrummy! My sister and I love to cook. She's off for another season as a chalet chef this year in 5 weeks so was helping with menu ideas!!
 
I didn't have the most healthy of weekends!!

Ended up having lunch at Carluccio's on Saturday - which wasn't very nice actually. I had a gnocchi with a lamb ragu and I don't think I'll be eating either lamb or gnocci for a long time (the sauce had something really pungent in it, maybe a little star anise?) I also had massive lemon tart for dessert.

Then I had nuggests anf chips for dinner (the kiddies meal from M&S though!) I had with beans, coleslaw and a slice of bread.

Yesterday I was a bit better, although I did have 2 massive cookies.

Today I am back to being healthy LOL!

breakkie was the normal fruit / yoghurt / wholemeal toast

Lunch will be chicken slices on olive crackers with humous, rocket and baby cherry tomatoes.

Dinner will be pasta primavera (chicken breast stir-fried in olive oil, with lemon juice oregano and basil, then I throw in a sliced red pepper, corgette and white onion and I boil up some wholemeal pasta and combine into one big frying pan. I season with more lemon juice and herbs and serve with a little honey and mustard dressing)

It sounds really dry but it's actually super fresh and succulent and I cannot wait for dinner tonight :)

I had the best dinner yesterday. We have a Harvester near us that does takeaway so I had chicken in a chilli and garlic sauce and chips and salad, omg it was good. Just had to share :) xxx
 
I think I've been quite good food-wise today - for a change!

Had a bowl of bran and a glass of Appletiser for breakfast, veggie burger for lunch (no bun, with side dish of more veggies!) and made 2 apple and raspberry turnovers for dinner (with just a tiny bit of honey on top).

If only I could keep it up!
 
Yesterday I had:

Breakfast - cereal with a banana chopped up on top and a glass of OJ

Lunch, ham and cheese roll with a bag of crisps

Dinner, mushroom stirfry with hoisin sauce

Hot chocolate with a couple marshmallows for desert!!

Reading it back it doesn't seem much as I also only ate half the roll! Going to try and have more fruit today.
