I know, I should I really know the answer!

I am seeing a consultant at the end of the month at the high risk clinic. What do they do differently to the midwife?

From my experience which was to do with my BMI, although it's early days not alot but have a chat with you so far.

A midwife deals with normality where as a consultant will deal with things outside the scope of a midwifes knowledge, for example if you have a serious underlying health problem or if your pregnancy deviates from normal. When I see my consutlant, he usually does everything that a midwife will do eg, a feel of your tummy, your bp, urine, etc but then discusses the problem that you have been refered to him with. He will then decide what the best course of action is to be taken with regard to your care. xx

I've seen my consultant every time so far apart from today (was at the midwife) :)

Mine does a scan, ponders over any ongoing problems, answers any questions, plans what care you're going to have. For example if they were going to give you steroids this time etc.

I like it because theere's no faffing around. Like last week I had a bleed, my consultant wasn't there so I had to see 2 different dr's who each said conflicting things :eh:

Oh the good thing is you will hopefully get lots more scans chick :D xxx

mine scans me then discusses issues that may have arisen since last appointment and do care plans for next few weeks till i see her again
