We really are struggling with names for our second child. I like Rosie and really want to have it but DH is getting so much mickey taking at work about the return of the 'tart' Rosie Webster in Coronation Street that it has ruined it.

Our 3 year old is called Amy and i'm liking Ailie (pronounced Ay lee)

Amy and Ailie. I don't know - spelling doesn't look right in Ailie. This is so hard!

If you want to really confuse folk spell it the original (gaelic) way - Eilidh! I went to school with someone who spelled it Ailie :)

I love it spelt Eilidh

I never watch Coronation Street so have no clue about the name Rosie from that.

I do like it fwiw and I am sure many others are like me and never see Corrie

When I suggested the name Phoebe for our daughter, my OH said everyone would relate it to Friends, but I told him nonsense, Friends would soon be forgotten, and I was right, no one even mentions Phoebe's name in relation to the programme.

I think Rosie is a lovely name and Rosie's character won't be around for ever.

Rosie is one of my choices as well.

Love the name - I would spell it the traditional way though (just to confuse the hell out of people  :D )

I think Rosie sounds so cute !

I like names ending in eeeee for little girls...

Unsure about Ailee id wonder if when she introduces herself ppl will assume she said Hayleigh?

xx

Don't worry about the Rosie thing! The LAST thing I would have thought of is Rosie from Corrie! I really doubt you'll have any problem there!

I like Ailie too, I think it's very pretty & girly! I know what you mean about "Amy & Ailie" going together though

It's your baby hun! If you like it, go for it!! xx

I agree with steelgodess i think a lot of people would assume that she had mispronounced Hayley as Ailie sounds like it.

I wouldnt worry about it going with your daughters name though, if we have another girl she will be called Lola or Lisa and lisa is the same as Isla but jumbled up!

Anyone who relates names to TV characters in a detrimental way obviously has very little going on in their lives, so I wouldnt have throught that their views really mattered too much :D

I think Rosie is a lovely name.........!!!

I LOVE the name Rosie! :cheer: :cheer: My best friend is called Rosie and she is the nicest person i have ever met!

FWIW...I dont watch Corrie either! :D

Thanks for your replies. I do like Rosie but it's a no no. DH thinks he has a bit of a problem pronouncing his 'r's so Rosie is definately out of the equation.. he has to be comfortable too with the name and it's not that i'm devastated I can't have it.

I ruled Ailie out that same night. Just didn't feel right.. probably why I posted here in the first place.. love the spelling Eilidh though.

We have chosen though.. Lucy - Amy and Lucy Howgate :)

Sounds good

Must admit I wasn't too keen on them sounding so similar - but hey it's not my kids :D

My mum was going to have a Layla and a Lola and I've always been so pleased that I had a brother so she couldn't :rotfl: Not my cup of tea :talkhand:
