Nathans on 3 meals a day now and at the minute hes having the powedred baby breakfast. Up to now we have tried 3 different flavors and the are all really sweet. He pulls his face a lot and I can't blame him, I wouldn't want to eat something that sweet. Hes not old enough for weetabix and stuff yet so what else is there?

he will be ok woth weetabix now i reckon.
another thing you could try is ready brek -

maxed banana pureed apple

beans and egg mashed up

Is he ok to eat all that at 5 months? The poor baby has only ever tried veg and a couple of fruits yet, I didn't know he was allowed all that yet.

Try some fruit or some toast. I would leave weetabix and the egg until he is 6mths - not far to wait tho!!

alana loved baby porridge it was her fav and some times i addes mashed banana

can i ask why we have to wait til 6 months to give weetabix? i thought i might try luke with this soon and ready brek.

weetabix contains gluton (same as redy brek) which can cause an allergy called coeliac disease.

Seren loved banana and pear. You can also get gluton free bread, so can make toast fingers.

he will be fine!

Babies don't suddenly become tollerant of gluton at 6 months. Be sensible and give him a little bit to start with. All mine have loved weetabix! you can mix babna with it too or apple. :)

No they don't suddenly become tolerant but at 6 months their gut matures and they can digest gluton etc easier.

but at 5 months i reckon they are ok to try a little bit of weetabix :)

Its personal choice. I had a gluton allergy when I was younger, from the age of 2-7 years and it was not something I would want Seren to go through so I chose to wait til she was 6 months to reduce the risk. But then there are others that hae done it soonre and had no problems.

I did a bit of gluten-based research when I started weaning Kate (mostly off the internet though so taken with a pinch of salt lol.) Basically from what I read it seems that they are not quite ready for gluten at 3 months but by about 5 months the amount they would eat is pretty small and their digestive systems are pretty well developed so its best to introduce it between 5 and 7 months ish. Apparently if you leave it till they are say, 9 months then they will go from having none at all to having quite a substantial amount and this can also then be a bit of a shock to their systems. Go for it I say!

Either

Farley's rusks(mashed up with milk)
Powdered baby cereal
Jar of porridge or something similar
Hipp a bisc (baby weetabix)
Yogurt
