OH works full time, usually over 40 hours a week (but is contracted to 37.5). I'm training to be a teaching assistant. We're trying for a baby but just wondered what benefits were available to expectant and new parents? We could afford to look after a child, but I wanted to know if its worth going back to work straight after maternity leave has finished. Thank you xx

you'd get working tax credits and child benefit hun, but because your OH works you wouldn't get anything else.
You might be entitled to a £500 grant too but once your passed 25 weeks i think. Depending on where ypu work you could go back part time x x x

Its depending on if it's your first and income level all that sort of paperwork. x x x

It depends on what you both earn as well. We get child benefit but are not entitled to anything else x

Thank you for info guys :)
I work in a school as a teaching assistant, so I could probably arrange that to be part time in the future. OH earns over the threshold to get working tax credits I think :/
