I know this must have come up hundreds of times before, but what do you reckon about using hair dye ???????

Not sure if its safe, no one seems to know for sure, but I`m walking round like like a frizzy ginger dishcloth and need to take action !!!!

But don`t want to harm my baby.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!! Tricky.

doesnt harm baby but can go a funny colour cause of hormones, especially blond dyes.

I went back to natural colour and got it dyed back brown so my blonde I used to get in didnt go orange or green :rotfl:

b4 i got pg i'd made the first step from black to blonde (i had to hav highlights every month for about 4 months) but i cancelled my second appointment due to ppl telling me i couldnt do it. i checked with the senior stylists at the salon i go to and they said highlights are ok (will not harm baby or make hair green!), full tints are advised against IN CASE they harm the baby (but there is no concrete evidence and some women choose to do it anyway), and the only colours that may react funny with ur hair due to hormones are the vegetable-dye based ones (henna, etc.)
i think a full tint i'd avoid to stay on the safe side (my personal opinion) but i did go and hav more highlights put in and my hair has not turned green!
call in or fone a well-known, upmarket salon (vidal sasoon, toni&guy, etc.) and ask their advice, even if u dont actually go to their salon, just make out like u might be so u get their advice. places like that are more likely to give u accurate info as they'd be worried about legal action and reputation damage if they didnt.
this link is a useful answer i found on 'ask a midwife' on midwivesonline.com

I'm glad someone else asked about this because I wasnt sure either, and didnt want to risk harming my baby because of my own vanity.
Still dont know what to do really, if they say there's no evidence that it harms the baby, then there's no real evidence that it doesnt either surely??

ive died mine throughout pregnancy.

The only advice the hairdresser said make sure ur in a well ventilated area...

Beware of it going funny colours though such as much deeper than intended. I'm normally blonde but its very hard to maintain when you're pregnant as your hair seems to grab the colour more and you could end up white or brown and not blonde. I just gave up and put a mid golden brown dye on and its gone very dark with a hint of red. Looks nice enough though but much darker than expected.

i had my hair done yesterday and its fine, aint gone a funny colour at all, i know it can tho

All this talk of dying, not nice, I'd rather dye my hair than die it

I heard it was dangerous to use bleach so have dyed it back to my natural colour until I have her.

I had mine done at the weekend - I normally have highlights of 2 shades of blonde and 1 light brown - however all have come out much darker than normal and light brown has developed much darker than I've ever had - but it makes a nice change and I wouldn't have been brave enough to ask for dark brown - so a pleasant suprise!

Ive been have my hair coloured as normal all through the pregnancy, had no problems at all so far!

im having mine done next week and my hairdresser is also a very close family friend and he said its fine for me to have it done, i have dia (sp) colour done. i cant wait! havent had it done in so long!
