Amelia has a horrid tummy bug, and even though she was exhausted when she went to bed last night, at about 10pm she was ill again, then woke up roughly every hour until about 2am mewling in pain (bless her, she sounded like a sad kitten
)
I couldn't relax after that, kept feeling like I was hovering on the edge of sleep waiting for her to get up again. I'd needn't have worried as she finally passed out- just as Brett started his opera-singer snoring chorus. And I couldn't put in my earplugs, in case Pud needed me again. He tried to help by switching ends of the bed (sounds odd, but honestly his snoring is so loud and this sometimes helps). Unfortunately he fell asleep again within seconds, twitched in his sleep and accidentally booted me in the head. At that point it was 4am, it was getting light out, and the f*cking birds were having a right old chatter outside my window. I got up, went to the bathroom and sobbed out of pure frustration. I HATE it when I just can't get back to sleep. Anyway, the point of this story is I went back to bed, lay down, and... baby started going on a mental wriggle
I know it's just the delirium of the sleep-deprivation, but I felt like he/she was going "Hey mummy, I'm awake too- lets have a dance!". It cheered me right up, and I fell asleep not long after that.
