Hey girls I've been doing weight watchers for over a year lost 4 1/2 stone pit half a stone on over honeymoon and found out I was pregnant wondering how safe is it to carry on with weight watchers being pregnant?

Personally, I wouldn't carry on with weight watchers while pregnant.. Obviously weight watchers/slimming world etc are around to help us lose/maintain our weight, but there's no way any of us are going to get through pregnancy without piling on the pounds!

The guidelines say that we need an extra 300 calories a day on top of a woman's 2000..

By all means stick to a well balanced, healthy diet, but I wouldn't be on any kind of 'plan'.. You can jump straight back on the plan in 9 months after LO is born to lose your baby weight :)

& Well done on losing the 4 1/2 stone - that's amazing!

xx

As an ex leader we are not allowed to weigh/advise any pregnant women! I really honestly wouldn't recommend any kind of weight loss during pregnancy unless supervised by a specialist/dietician xx

You can get through pregnancy without piling on extra pounds quite easily. If your concerned that you won't be able to avoid piling on excess wait, tell your ww advisors - I'm sure they must have come across this before.

I doubt theyd be encouraging you to 'lose' weight, but they'll probably be able to help you maintain where you are healthily. Xxx

I was doing slimming world before I fell preggers n the leader said she needed midwife to give the ok for me to continue with it but I'm not sure if weight watchers is the same I'm presuming it will b. I ended up not doin it tho as I was sick as a dog n was a carb monster!! Lol I was going to go back now I'm feeling more human n weighed myself at 24wk app n mw said the weight I'd gained was fine n not to worry!
Well done on weight loss and good luck.xx

Slimming world do let u continue and r support by royal college of midwives u have to get a form signed by your midwife every few weeks and the can advise what they want u to do xx

Thanks girls should have said not doing it to lose weight whilst pregnant that would be silly but more for control a healthy diet type thing if that makes sense

Are you on maintenance then? Like I said WW leaders aren't allowed to weigh you/advise you on anything in a meeting unfortunately but it's upto I guess if you are comfortable maintaining xx

No was in middle of losing really only 5 lbs from goal but was wondering if ww did a plan for pregnant women more than anything like they do when women r breast feeding they give extra points etc

They are not allowed x

Sorry, I assumed WW woulda been the same as some of the other groups, I think Scottish slimmers help you maintain. (although could be wrong) xxx

Ive cooked weight watchers dinners throughout my pregnancy and I've had a healthy steady weight gain.
I feel like the recipes are well balanced and healthy which is good enough for me. I do compensate with cupcakes & sweets though :0)

One of the girls posted a link a while back to a healthy eating plan for pregnancy. Its NOT a diet but ideas for meals and snacks that give you the calories you need but help you just keep an eye out if you don't want to regain too much weight. it akes you through trimester by trimester as our calorie and snacking requirements change http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/nutrition/meal-planners-by-trimester/.

Hi Sarah,

Well done on the weightloss thus far, I also see you are quite close to goal weight - well done you!

I would say by now you know the principles of healthy eating so you can stick to that without the actual calorie counting?

The fact is you are going to gain weight hun, so you may as well embrace it and know that you can get back on plan after the bub is here

Thanks girls hope you all don't think I'm some kind of idiot who thinks I'm not going to gain weight lol just wondered if the ww was a safe healthy way to maintain a healthy lifestyle and if it was reccomeded to carry on if you have been on it for a while, but I'll have a look later at that link thanks hun. I don't mind gaining weight at all just want my baby and myself to be as healthy as possible throughout the 9 months it's got nothing to do with weight gain can put on 10 stone as long as my baby is healthy I don't care. :)

I'd say go for it to maintain a healthy lifestyle and diet - I wish I could! All I seem to want to eat is junkfood; takeaways, crisps, cake, chocolate haha.. xx

I've just cancelled my WW subscription, no point in paying £20 a month when I cant go!

Still planning on eating heathly though or it will be twice as hard after the birth!
