Now dont all leap on me... but im heavier than i want to be - by about 3st... :-( and got my BfP this week. Now while I'm obviously not looking to diet per say - I'm after some advixe on how best to keep weight gain to a minimum.

First time around I weighed 12 stone and only gained 20lbs, and lost it straight away. This tjmw after 2.5yrs ofbtrying to conceive (eating and drinking too much has had its toll) and i'm almost 15 st. Which i know pushes me into high risk - especially considerinf I'm 41 as well.

I susoect eating better and not drinking will perhaps do all I need, and I may even lose a few lbs in these early weeks. Has anyonw had any experience of weightloss (safely!) in early pregnancy, and when did you start to gain weight ? I've heard it's usually approx 12wks when weight gain starts (generally speaking - i know we are all different).

Im already eating more healthy and of course i wont be drinking - abyone care to share what they are doing... ironicalky I had joined weightwatchers but cant continue with that. Not counting cals anyway..

Any experience ladies please ??
Xx

I'm a bit of an odd case because I had a gastric bypass and fell pregnant 7 months after so I lost about 3 stone in the first 6months of pregnancy then started gaining, think I gained a stone. My stomach stretched during pregnancy so I'm back to normal now so I have to diet if I want to lose weight and I'm still 16st (was 27st) and don't want to gain a lot with this baby so I've joined slimming world, you can do it while pregnant but you need to be signed off my a midwife. You get additional healthy extras and it seems to be more aimed at maintaining your weight and managing weight gain rather than trying to lose weight. With my first pregnancy I was so hungry all the time and if I didn't eat I felt very faint and sick, so far this pregnancy is the same so if I don't watch my weight I'll gain loads!

I'm feeling in exactly the same way Melanie. I have piled up some unwanted pounds since my last pregnancy (6 years ago) and I'm trying to be really healthy (cutting out wine must help me shed some poundage too!!) in hope that I can trim up a bit before the I get bigger for baby. Plus if I don't none of my maternity clothes will fit!! Although I am a little worried some of them may be somewhat dated as I'm sure fashion has changed in 6 years (even for pregnant people).

I'm also thinking about getting out and doing some bike riding or walking. Good luck x

I'm in the same boat too. Took 17months of treatment to conceive my first in which time I put on 2 stone and then found another 1 stone when pregnant and now am just under 14stone.

I was doing slimming world but just never lost weight, I think it's not enough like a diet for me to get in to it. I've actually lost 3lbs this past week just from eating veg and protein only and it seems to be keeping me full (I've lost my appetite mind you!) x

I was a size 12-14 last pregnancy (2013/2014) and so all my maternity clothes are going to be too small this time. I'm a size 16 now...

I'd love to lose a bit before I start gaining... even if just half a stone... fingers crossed.. xx
