Hi ladies I'm planning on weaning harry onto a bottle at 6 months (cuz I've gotta go back to work and it's not convienient to express at work (I work in a kitchen btw) harrys fine taking a bottle and haven't had any confusion or anything but he doesn't like formula, he'll take a bit and then spit it out and kick up a fuss, could it be the brand he doesn't like he's been having cow and gate? Also how do I start weaning him off I'd still like to bf feed him on a night time until at least 8 months but should I just give him a bottle at lunch and dinner time and then puree food aswell?

Hmmm I'm not sure?? Maybe ask some of the combi feeders I know Bev does.

Hey hun! I combi feed- started weaning LO at about 5.5 months. Did it gradually by dropping on feed over several days until my boobs felt comfortable again, then I'd drop another and wait a few days again til I was comfortable and continued like that. Now I do one bf a day (usually first one of day) and bf at night. I would say try and find a formula ur LO likes before dropping more than one feed. Perhaps u could let someone else give it as sometimes LO funny at not getting breast milk from mummy- might b worth trying to start off with anyway. Does ur LO take expressed breastmilk? I mean is it the formula that's the issue or could it b the bottle or teat? If so u might need to play around with that a bit.
If u wanna stop most day feeds by 6 months I'd suggest u start weaning around 5 months at the latest to let u and LO adjust gradually. Hope that helps hun xx

Drake didn't like the SMA formula so we tried him on Hipp and he will take that no problem, apart from he doesn't like feeding during the day from me or the bottle - little monkey. I've introduced one formula feed so far (3 ish one) and am hoping to just have him on first in the morning and night time feeds (hopefully just 2 feeds a day) from 9 months too

Thanks ladies he's fine with bottles and stuff as he's had bm out of it but I gabe my hubby some formula to give him if he ran out of bm it was the cow and gate premixed but he had aptamil in hosptial and he was fine with that?

Well at least u know he will take something! Aptimil is most expensive I think. We use SMA but I know others that like the Hipp milk. It will take a while to work it all out and get in a routine but u will get there! Good luck xx

i use aptimil as there isnt that much difference in price to them all n i heard good things about it. mum2be is right, just gradually replace bf day feeds with formula and foods and you should be fine
