Hiya girls!

Hope everyone's ok.

CD66 and no AF but I've had pinky discharge last night and this morning when wiping so not really sure what to make of that to be quite honest, I don't get it before AF but still, it's managed to bum me out! :(

I still have sore boobs which feel like they're bruised all round the sides and underneath, I can feel it when I walk up and down the stairs etc so I guess that's one good sign - least the doc thinks so lol!

Anyways, we phoned the doc up yesterday and couldn't see the nurse as she is fully booked up through December so got an early appointment with the doc. To cut a long and boring story short, he said they do not request blood tests until they have done 3 urine tests *but* he is arranging for us to have an ultrasound to see if my womb lining is thickening and by the time we get the date he said it should be long enough to see if there's anything in there. ;)

We were pretty baffled as to why they would rather do an ultrasound than blood test as the doctor did comment that the ultrasound would be more expensive to them than the blood test but hey, as long as they do SOMETHING for us, we're not complaining.

He didn't ask me ANY questions regarding symptoms but hubby told him about my bruised boobs and the doctor said to me "Oh, well that's a typical pregnancy sign". :slap:

I didn't think it was the most helpful thing he could have said because it got our hopes up a little but we reminded ourselves that anything could happen from now until the ultrasound but we're trying v. hard to keep positive.

Phew. :coffee:

Sorry for the rambling!

:dust: :dust: :dust: :dust:

Hey MissJuly

Well that didn't seem a very helpful doctor at all.....pfft

When I saw mine on the Tuesday she took a urine sample there & then, the Wednesday morning she sent me to have bloods done & got all my results back Thursday - They tested for pregnancy & any other infections & general blood count etc & She took details of all my sexual history & asked if any female problems in the family. She also had a feel on my tummy

I've got to have more bloods done in a couple of weeks Due to my White blood cells & possibility of B12 deficiency but is still going to re-test everything again & also have an internal examination if things haven't got better then go from there

Sorry not much advice there for you but that doctor just seemed to be so unhelpful

xxxx

Blimey. My doctor really was crap wasn't he?

Bum.

I guess I was just happy that he at least referred us for an ultrasound that I didn't think of much else. :(

Although my hubby and I both agreed he wasn't the most helpful, my hubby seemed to do most of the questions as well!

Hmm. I wonder if we would get more advice at a family planning clinic.

Like you said, it's fab he's offered you the ultrasound but kinda odd when they haven't done bloods or urine for testing & I don't get the 3 urine tests, sometimes things only picked up by blood tests

Maybe worth giving family planning clinic a call or check to see if there is a nhs walk in centre near you that specialises in sexual health, I've got one in Croydon that I thought about going to if I couldn't see the doctor

Just frustrates me how different gps in different areas deal with things. I got my appointment cos the nurse at nhs direct told me to get one urgently as all symptoms shout pregnancy & was having severe pains in tummy, which have gone & this is only my 1st cycle of TTC. Your on CD66 & I know some women do have long cycles but youbwould think the doctor would empathise & show more concern in wanting to find our whats going on

I hope that made sense

xxx

Yeah it did, thanks. :)

Gah, I'm annoyed at myself really but I did say that a blood test would be more accurate and reliable for testing but I was told I had to complete three tests by urine samples before getting a blood test.

And no, he didn't ask a single question about my history or family history etc.

Bugger.

:( x x

Silly silly man doctor.....pfft to him

I really don't think they should be allowed to deal with female problems, sorry to all those who gave wonderful male GPs, but I've always found them to be unhelpful & unsympathetic & just don't have that understanding like female GPs do

Had an incident years & years ago, must of been about 7 or 8 & mum had taken me to the GP as I had an infection in my fufu, our male GP asked me to leave the room so waited outside & proceeded to accuse my dad of abusing me..........how f**king wrong is that, my mum bless her was absolutely heartbroken & disgusted he would even suggest that. We came out the doctors & she was sobbing & she couldn't tell me why, only did a few years ago

This is why I have no faith in male gps when it comes to lady problems

Good that he offered a ulra sound but there is more he could have done before then! Urine, bloodtests, felt your abdo etc as kez said! Seeeesh he sounds a bit lazy

Sorry you've reached the point of needing a doc

To be fair, I thought your doc sounded ok :) They don't deal with symptoms because they know first hand how misleading they could be.

As for commenting on your boobs, he was only saying what you wanted him to say.

I think him sorting you out an ultrasound is amazing news! I know being pregnant is what is on your mind, but considering that it might not be - it could reveal so much :)

It's really good that you've been offered one. When is it?

Kezza - Aw that sounds awful! I know some docs are a pain in the bum, it was my first time going to this one though as I'd changed docs when I got married. Hubby mentioned he was a bit of a crackpot LOL. x x

MrsMc - That's what I said to my OH. Then again we did at least get something out of it so not all bad. :) x x

Louise - Thanks hun. I've already had an ultrasound and got the all clear from PCOS etc as well as having blood tests to see if there was anything affecting my periods as my doc before I changed to this GP, was surprised that my periods were irregular and that I had no idea about my cycle.

I definitely didn't want to hear that it was a typical sign of pregnancy - I know that it is but I wanted to have something done to find out for certain if it is due to pregnancy - my poor husband got his hopes raised and I was annoyed the doc had said it without knowing for sure whether we're pregnant.

Thanks, I was surprised he offered us one to be honest as he turned down the blood test but I'm looking forward to finding out what's happening. No idea when it is as he has to refer us and we have to wait for an appointment to be sent to us. :) x x

I definitely didn't want to hear that it was a typical sign of pregnancy

Oh sorry, i must have misread - i thought your husband mentioned about your boobs being sore to your doctor because he thought it was a pregnancy symptom and the doctor simply confirmed that it was which you already knew.

Bloods are specficially re pregnancy unless done on a particular date.

An ultrasound can tell you if you are pregant and other stuff :)

your doctor is an arse.....but excellent news on the scan. How ong do you have to wait for it? If its weeks then go back, see another doctor (same surgery) and demand urine, then bloods.

Fingers crossed honey xxx

Louise - Yep so looking forward to something being done to help me out, I don't fancy going through this every 60 odd days. I definitely don't want to put my husband through it either. :( x x

Tracey - Well we can only assume it will take a while as it's almost December and there's usually a bit of a waiting list but we're hoping it won't be too long. The other doctors won't consent to a blood test til I do three urine tests - I'd still end up waiting anyway. x x

very helpfull doc hey.......not!!
but Af still not been here is a very very good sign and i got the sore boobs with alfie and only noticed them wen i was climbing the stairs
good luck huny x x x
