My waters broke last night at about 6.30pm. contractions haven't started. Hospital told me to call tomorrow at 10am to get induced if my contractions don't start normally. He doesn't seem in a hurry to come as he isn't even engaged yet I'm 39+3 if that makes any difference. So my question is, is there any way I can kick start them normally??

Walk about a lot, have you got a birthing ball? Bounce on that.
Basically anything that will use gravity to try and encourage him to engage.

Sorry if this is obvious, but just don't have sex now your waters have gone.

Fingers crossed you go into labor naturally before they try to induce you.

Thanks for the quick reply, I don't have a birthing ball, but I could walk around even if it feels nasty, my waters are still coming out.

I had similar with my son; I'd torn mine though but I know how you feel with them coming out as you walk around. It's not the best feeling is it.

Are you 100% sure he's not engaged? Part of what made mine come out more slowly was him being engaged so he was blocking them but then when he moved I'd have a bit of a gush.

Keep us updated on how you get on; also try not to worry too much - yes it would be better if you go into labor naturally but very exciting to think it won't be long now until you have your baby in your arms.

LOL no it's not nice, Yes I'm sure, I went to the hospital last night because I wasn't sure what else to do, the midwife checked and said he wasn't engaged. I would prefer natural, I'm just worried that if I wait he will get an infection. And I'm pretty sure my midwife that I saw Wednesday who said I was in early labour said that he was back to back.

Yeah if it doesn't happen naturally then the best thing to do is let them induce you.

However he gets here as long as he gets here safely that's what matters so don't worry too much about it.

I think the only thing you can do at the moment is stay on your feet and try and encourage him to get in that right position
