I had wondered for a while. I've had a 'pressure' feeling for a few weeks now really, and now and again if I have been sat for long periods or get up out of bed I feel like my waters are going to break at any point. It's quite an odd feeling and a little unsettling!
when my waters have broke i never got contractions till hours, days oweks after, 1st waters broke and they had to induce me 2 days later, 2nd they broke my waters to induce labour aswell as drip, 3rd waters broke at 22 weeks and i didn;t go into labour till 33 weeks, 4th again they broke my waters, and 5th waters broke and then 7 hours later i got contractions
For me, i was lying in bed and it just came out like I'd wet myself. My first thought was, I hope it's not blood! lol
Then when I got up to get dressed it came out some more.
So yeah it's just like you've wet yourself, same feeling. But you can't hold it in obviously.
It depends, every lady is different. Some women lose their waters gradually, and don't realise they've gone (this can be dangerous, so always best to get checked if you suspect they've gone), some they break and contractions start, some they get contractions first, and then they go, and some have to have them broken..
I've never seen it happen since, but when my Mum had my youngest brother (who was her 5th), he came so quickly that her waters didn't have time to break! The head crowned, and the sac was still intact over the babies head. She had to push through the sac to get it to burst!
with my 1st my waters broke & then contractions started about an hour after. With my 2nd I had contractions for 4 days solid & had my waters broken in hospital.
with my first my water broke before I got contractions. I went to the toilet to pee (and peed) and then about 10mins later I had to go again so I went to the toilet and nothing came and 5 mins later again like I had to pee but I didn't go and then it just felt like I started peeing but it was loads so it didn't really feel different. also as long as the fluid comes out (until the baby is born) it felt like I was peeing non stop (not painfull but so annoying).
