Hi I’m currently 9wks and 1 day pregnant. Had my reassurance scan at 7 weeks everything went well. But I have received a letter to say my urine sample showed an infection this was two weeks ago. I’ve been asked to provide another sample which I have done yesterday before they will put me on antibiotics. I’m really worried about the baby and how this effects us. This is my second pregnancy after a missed miscarriage in August. Please can anyone provide advice.

They will just be checking for a urinary tract infection. They culture the urine to see if there is actually infection rather than just handing out antibiotics that you might not need. Urine is tested initially with a dip stick test which isn't very accurate and often shows positive for a urine infection, so the lab test is just to confirm it or not. If positive they will give you a course of antibiotics, nitrofuentoin, which is safe in pregnancy and is nothing to worry about x
