Water as a drink

Im introducing Isabella to water, Im sure she thinks Im trying to poison her!!

This is a really silly question but you know you only have an hour max with milk does water have a time limit???

We keep her bottles in the fridge??

I asked my HV this last week too, she said u can have water out for about 4 hrs.

I was going to intruduce water to Ellis too but he is not really taken enough milk yet... between 4-6 ounces every 3 hrs

yeah i would say after 4 hours or so as well - chance of a beaker lasting that long around alex isnt good he really guzzles it!

dont worry about her hating it at the mo - alex acted like it was poison too and i just kept trying - eventually he just started glugging it down and has done since!

I'd try a sugar free powder you can buy in Boots to add to the water. It just slightly flavours it but without the sugar.

Oops I just give Seren a beaker of water which she slurps from occasionally all day. Are you breastfeeding, as I find Seren doesn't drink much water as she is getting enough from my milk????

Nicky i gave it to alex from a few weeks - i know they dont need it but i wanted him to start to get used to it. he would only have a few sips a day and he wasnt keen at all most of the time! paid off though as he loves his water now!

Arianna has been on water from about 2wks!! I was told to by the HV as she was born in the mid of July and it was SOOOOOO hot to give her cooled water.
She has always loved it.
I also get the powders that Londoner Claire talks about - the are Organic and from boots - she loves the Strawberry and Vanilla one, you just add one teaspoon to the water so it lasts a while too!!

Keely, my HV also said to give her water when she was looking for more milk to see if she was just thirsty rather than hungry. If Ellis refuses it then give him the milk.

same with Alfie hun he was really constipated (sorry tmi) so water always helped, but he pulls some right faces poor little guy he isnt a fan

I only offer Isabella water if it is about an hour or so away from her feed and she is on one!!!! I also offer it to her if she wakes up early in the morning to prolong her til breakfast time

Ellis have never asked for anything between milk so maybe he just dont need it yet!

Think i will wait for him to ask for it (mum i want water!! haha) xxx

Mia has been drinking water since i started weaning her, i always offer it inbetween her milk feeds and she takes it, but she tends to take more once shes had her milk and eaten something.

I've also bought some small pots of juice, and you just add a little to the water-which just flavours it slightly.She loves it!!
