went to docs last night. told her i was pregnant. she asked me when my last period etc etc anyway she says 'do you think you could pee in a tube for me now' well i couldnt as i had only just been to loo so she said for me to take the tube away, wee in it and bring it back today, so she can send it off to see if i really am pregnant. IS SHE THICK? WHY WOULD I SAY I AM IF I AINT?? she didnt know chuff all to be honest and it really upset me, she wont even book an appointment at the hospital until she has got 'confirmation' i am pregnant and she didnt even check my stomach or anything to see how far along i am. so now i am none the wiser, i feel crap and upset and just want the bloody hopsital appointment.

:(

i had exactly the same and had to give a pee sample as confirmation! There isnt much they can do at this early stage apart from guess, then i didnt see anyone until the midwife at 13 weeks

Hmmm is there another doc you can see??

Docs shiuld have tests in the surgery so that seems a bit dumb to me!!!

Try not to worry hon, sorry of these docs are dumb dumbs!!

x

Try not to feel bad. GP's dont' do the pregnancy thing, they pass it on to the MW's

All she is doing is their practice policy of confirming your pregnancy. Some surgeries do this, some don't.

Checking your stomach at this stage won't tell her anything. My GP never checked mine when I went to see her to inform her of my pregnancy. She didn't do anything other than ask last period date and take my BP. Even my MW didn't bother having a feel of my tummy till I was 16 weeks along so I'd not be peed off about that.

TBH when telling them you are PG GP's don't really do anything other than refer you on to a MW or tell you to book in with her. Depending on where the MW is based you'll either see her through the GP practice or at a hospital.

Most MW's don't bother with booking in till gone at least 8 weeks as tbh there is nothing to be done before then anyways. So really, sounds to me like you had a normal GP visit informing them you think you are PG and them wanting to confirm. Nothing to be upset about :)

It probably is normal, but I know it must be frustrating when you want to shout to whole world you're pregnant and then a doc makes you feel like maybe you're not...

...I agree with steelgoddess, I'd have thought they should have a test in the surgery!?

Pregnancy is a bugger when you have to play the waiting game for that 1st appointment!

Don't worry hun, you'll be at your 12 week dating scan before you know it!! xx

My docs have tests in the surgery but didnt do one, they just took my word for it and took my details to pass to MW

I had the same with my docs.

I rang them when I first got a + positive test at 4 weeks and was told it's too early so ring back in a couple of weeks.

I rang at 6 weeks and got a docs appointment and all he said was 'congratultions, make an appointment with the midwife on your way out'!! That was it. I didn't have to do a sample because he said the homes ones were just as accurate as theirs so there was no point.

:x

thats what happened the first time round (the pregnancy when i MC) - so i found it strange going back to the same doctors and being told to do a test to prove it!! i am sooo mad about it because it still doesnt seem real and like its happening as it feels like my doctor doesnt believe me, if you know what i mean!!! :x

at our surgery it depends on the doctor, i had one that didnt ask and one whos done 2 tests when iv said im not pregnant  I guess if they do a test they definatly know, it gets things moving a bit.

Same here, depends which doctor you get to see at the surgury (they've got 4 and you just get to see whoever is on that day).

My "usual" doctor just said I'm sure you know if you're pregnant or not, do I need to give you the midwife's phone number or do you still have it?
While one fo the others made me pee in a cup to test there and then and then decided maybe it was wrong and wanted me to pee again  so she could send it off to be "evaluated". She didn't want to believe that my iud had dislodged.

Sorry you didnt have a good experience at the doctors, how odd they asked you to pee in a tube - they should of taken your word for it.

try not to worry about what the doc says, did you ever do that test 2 weeks after your M/C hun? maybe she is just concerned about you, try not to take it to heart!
