I woke up feeling unwell and pretty lethargic but went to work as normal. Felt rubbish all morning so decided to leave at lunch time as I was owed some time. Bought a sandwich on the way home and had that when I got in, then had a bit of a snooze.

Started to feel sicky and really letchargic at tea time so didn't have anything to eat. Then about 8pm I had awful stomach cramps and was violently sick. I felt so awful, I got into bed fully clothed with all my make up still on and just tried to forget about the awful stomach pains and go to sleep. The pains were awful (although nothing compared to what's to come in a few months - yikes) and right at the top of my bump.

I know your internal organs get moved around as the baby grows but I've never had pains there before. Bubs was moving around and kicking last night and this morning but has been very quiet all afternoon.

The rational and sensible part of me tells me that it was probably just a stomach bug and wont have done any harm to bubs. But the irrational and worried about the baby part of me, just wonders if everything is ok in there. Can stomach bugs pass through the placenta?

im not sure that they can. I had a really bad virus causing me to be violently sick and have diorreah for about 36 hours. I had this at about 34 weeks and like you i was very concerned because everytime i was being sick my belly seemed to seize up and i had unbearable cramps.

I called the out of hours doctor who said that all i can do is drink plenty of fluids... he said that if i couldnt keep food down for a couple of days baby would be fine as long as i drank enough water etc. i found that icelollies were the only think even remotely solid that i could eat!

If your baby was still moving around this morning i wouldnt worry too much as she could just be sleepy this afternoon as she has probably had a bit of a hard time in there with mummy being poorly :(

They say you are supposed to feel about 10 movements on average between 8am and 8pm so if you have any concerns i would definately give somebody a call whether its a midwife or the hospital just to get some advice on babies movements and how to recover best.

Im no expert but i hope thats helped :)

Hope you are feeling better soon sweet

xx

:( Poor you! Nothing to add except to say I hope you're feeling better. It's awful being sick even when you're not pregnant. It's the last thing we need 'in our condition' is it!!

Thanks for your replies. I'm feeling much better now thankfully. Wish I could blag another day off work though, I'm counting the days until my maternity leave starts at the end of October. xx
