I've just been told by a friend I'll need to give Finn vitamin drops after 6 months if I keep breast feeding even though he will be doing BLW. She said this is even more of a reason as he won't be getting what he needs from food yet! Is this right? I feel all confused about BLW now and whether I should now do it!xxx

There are different schools of thought Hun on the vitamins. We are doing BLW and I wouldn't have it any other way but I do spoon one spoon of yoghurt to get the drops into C. It works out fine and I don't always remember to give them to him but I take vitamins so C will still get the goodness through me.

Xx

Now I'm thinking I should be taking vitamins! I never have done though as have a good balanced diet so hoped that would be enough!x

It probably is hun, I have a balanced diet too but I am a carrier for beta thalasemia so can be a little anaemic. I take a multivit anyway as I also am allergic to oranges so need help with bit C levels xx

They advise vitamins for both mum and baby if you're bf as the iron you had stocked up from birth has pretty much depleted by the 6 month mark

If you we're formula feeding, the bits are already added.

Like most things it won't do any harm not to take/give them, it's just beneficial to xx

I think most LCs will agree that formula have far too much iron in them.

The Vit D is also another vitamin in the drops which a lot of babies are lacking xx
