Hi Ladies,

Has anybody else suffered from UTIs when ttc? I got one last night whilst on holiday (3 hrs from home) and had to leave in the middle of the night to drive back home to see a gp. I got antibiotics. I had a few UTIs in a row a few years ago. They are agony. I wouldnt wish them on my worst enemy!

Of course, it would be today that im o-ing wouldnt it! Im really not well enough to bd (any my husband refuses to cos of the uti anyway) so will have to hope the bd 2 days ago worked.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that I got rid of Bacterial Vaginosis :wall2:

Both of these things do not exactly make me want to bd lots!

I feel like we've been quite unlucky so far but trying to keep perspective as its only cycle 6. It was just such good timing this month for BDing on holiday and at the weekend. We find it so much harder to BD on a work day when we're tired :nap:

Maybe I should focus on eating healthier, losing a bit of weight and put the ttc on hold. There is SO no way i'll be able to not opk and try though...:poas: Dont know who im kidding.

Does anyone else ever feel like they just cant catch a break?! I'm worried my body is too prone to infections to even cope with a pregnancy if I ever do get my BFP.

I used to suffer quite a lot with UTI's, it was miserable! Turned out I was sensitive to latex! However I know this won't be the case while you're ttc!

The advice I've always been given is make sure you wee before and immediately after dtd (especially after). I found that really helps me, if I don't go straight away after then I either end up really irritated down below or I get a UTI. I also heard that if you suffer recurrent UTI's then sometimes the doctors can prescribe antibiotics to take more regularly to prevent them, might be worth a chat with your GP?

Hope this helps! X

I had one once. You may need antibiotics. An upper UTI is basically a kidney infection and is dangerous. It's not a good idea to dtd as there is a chance your OH could catch it. Hope you feel better soon.

Make sure you drink plenty - barley water, water and cranberry juice are best for UTIs and don't wash your bits with shower gel or soap as that can cause UTIs, I use shower gel on body but use dove sensitive soap for my bits and I don't use loads of it, there's femfresh you can use if that would be better for you hope your feelin better soon sweet xx
