So Saturday I had blood work done..hcg was around 8000. And saw tiny sac on ultrasound although they told me they found nothing my dr looked at ultrasound and said there is a sac) so today I went in got more blood work about 35 hrs after the last and it has only risen to 12,800 but dr saw a embryo and fetal pole... no heartbeat. I would be around 5 weeks 4 or 5 days. He said chances are it's a miscarriage.

I'm soooo sad and confused.

They usually don't see a heartbeat until 6 weeks. When is your next scan xxx

Why would they say it's a miscarriage when a heartbeat isn't usually seen until 6 weeks.

Your HCG is rising not getting lower so unless you are in pain and bleeding you aren't misscarrying.

Did the doctor say that to you or are you assuming you are?

I don't think a doctor would say that if they are in their right mind!!

xx

He's saying that at that much HCG there should be a heartbeat and that hcg levels should double every 48 for a healthy pregnancy and he can assume that it's not a a viable pregnancy. I do have cramps but have has cramps for 6 days!!! Like slight period cramps

You don't always have to have pain and bleeding to miscarry so please don't assume you do. I didn't and I had one.

Kris, stay positive and look forward to Wednesday. We didn't see a heart beat till a lot later with this baby and my hcg levels were a lot less with our miscarriage. Fingers crossed for you.

I don't know enough to be able to help but I do know that a high HCG can be a sign of multiples. I had a scan at about 5+2, only could see a sac, scan a few days later and seen 1 baby but no heartbeat, scan at 6+4 and there is 2 babies although one is smaller with no heartbeat as yet so waiting on scan on Thursday.

I've had a bit of bleeding which has stopped, I've had BAD cramps which have now stopped but I still have pains up inside yet everything is good.

Please don't give up hope. I think your Doctor sounds very doom and gloom xx

You had you test done 35hrs later so not 46hrs so they will probably double by the 46hr point.

I don't think the HCG levels are right regarding a heartbeat.

You won't see a heartbeat before 6 weeks.

Just relax for now & wait until Wednesday where you MAY see a bit more; however don't worry if you don't as every pregnancy is different.

Your HCG levels are great & cramps are normal in pregnancy.

Thank u. I am staying hopeful. Sigh!

I echo what the others are saying.

I had similar challenges (long story). the sonographer pushed my scan back to 6 and a half weeks as she said its difficult to see before that point. She was the early pregnancy sonographer so I trusted her judgement.

Keep positive xxx

Hun try not to panic. My hcg with my son was way higher than that and I didn't even have a sac on the scan. 2 weeks later there was baby. Things change in there in a very short time. Fingers crossed for you xxx
