I have tried getting back to sleep, it is just no good.
My sore throat and cold are STILL here and keeping me awake, but now I am getting obsessed about the baby's movement or lack of it.
I am sure things have been getting quieter and quieter. Yesterday I don't recall anymore than two slight movements.
I tried lying in bed and doing a kick chart. I got about 5 small movements in half an hour...is that normal, how long do you have to wait for 10 movements?

I wish it was 8.30am and then I could ring the midwife!

Feeling a bit better now. I managed to wake hubby up with my coughing so he and I are both awake :cheer:

We have just had breakfast and maanged to wash up and do laundry already!!

I have felt the baby a bit more, so I am happier. I am still going to ring the midwife though, I am sure she wont mind me checking how often the baby is supposed to move. (I googled it and the advice is REALLY conflicting - raning from 10 kicks in half an hour to 10 kicks a day?! :? )

sorry you've had such a bad night seleep and worrying about the baby to.
im sure there is nothing to worry about hun
arnt they supposed to become quiter as they get bigger and closer to labour as there's less room in there to move about???
sorry new to all this

hope the midwife can reassure you that all is well. and that your little one gives you great big kick ASAP
and aslo that your cold goes soon too

hello hun,

sorry you're feeling poorly. My midwife said on Wednesday its 10 movements over 12 hours. Baby can wake up and be moving or kicking tons for say 10mins but that counts as 1 movement. There are different guidlines though so call your midwife and see what she says

xx

i was told 10 movements in 12 hours this can be from a kick to a roll if that makes sence but if your worried hun go get checked they wont mind

Logan is normally really quiet during the day at the moment, then gets active for a bit in the evenings.

If you're worried I'd give your midwife a call. It will put your mind at rest and it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to babys movements

I second what the other girls say...give your midwife a call and see exactly what the advice is. Hope you feel better soon!!

See this is where I fall down on doing it this way as much as I'd love to  :wall:

Sometimes my LO is active for 2 hours at a time, with short breaks, say a couple of minutes or so then lots of movement for 10, then quiet for a few then active again for a while. I never know to count that as different movements or what  The thing is then LO can go quiet for hours. I feel the odd movement, like a small turn or wriggle on its own but nothing major. Then at some point again later on LO wakes and goes on a mad womb party   My MW said not to worry overly that Bump does it this way, so I try not to.

If I was counting 10 in 12 hours from say 6am this morning as your MW said I'd have 6 already  I think :wall: LO was active for a bit, had a few single kicks and wriggles and had movement half an hour ago and just now. Gah is so blooming hard to know which way to count. I like your MW's way but then not sure to count the 2 hour session as 1 or 6 for example.

I'll double check with my MW next week and see if I am doing it right, well, at least her way right

I tend to count mine over 2 hours or so therefore and then just make sure I feel Bump move on and off over the day.

Awww sorry you are worried   5 movements in half an hour sounds good to me. Maybe LO is moving but you can't feel it always due to yout placenta position?

Give someone a call if you need to. I'm sure they will be happy to check LO out.

I must admit I don't feel my LO for hours on end sometimes other than a pressure on my bladder which tells me Bump has somehow shifted and I didn't notice. But then when Bump wakes up its a real squirming and wriggling session for a couple of hours usually.

But I can go almost all day without really feeling anything major. I just figure I have one of those babies who likes their sleep already

Because of how mine is I tend to count my movements in 2 hours or so. Then I just keep an eye on other movement the rest of the time and so long as I notice it, I don't mind if its just one occasional squirm or 5 minutes of hiccups I feel.

I do recall reading that around your time (36 weeks) that babies can get quieter as they are nearer being born.

aww hun i second what everyone else is saying
ring the midwife if you are worried
manda xx

hello
my LO is mad in the night I only know this cos wake up feeling bruised then for ages until 12/1pm she is quiet, must be when she sleeps, many a time I am eating choc and having fizzy water to get her going.
The other thing is i feel her when i touch my tummy but not from inside sometimes, like undulating, so she is moving but mayeb cos of my placenta i cant feel it,
I am not counting but i will start but sounds as if your bub is running out of room, call your mw tho and they will reassure you or get you in...
take care

It is worrying when you don't feel LO moving, I would get it checked out and ask your midwife for advice.

Mine had a quiet day on Tuesday and I hardly felt it, I wasn't that concerned because I had felt it at times just not as much as usual. Also once before when I was about 21 weeks I hadn't feel LO move for over a day and when I got it checked out it was lying with its back facing outwards, so kicking inwards and thats why I couldnt feel it. Anyhow, on my way home from work on Tues evening I fell and landed on my side and a bit on my tummy so I called MW who advised me to go to hospital. They monitored the movements cause I hadn't felt it move since the fall. I explained it had been quiet all day and when they monitored me baby was laying kicking inwards with its back facing outwards again. Everything was ok thank goodness. So I would definitely get yourself checked out, it really put my mind at rest and stopped my from worrying myself to death.

Thanks for your replies everyone    You are all so lovely!

Baby got a bit more active this morning and I decided that I would feel silly if I phoned the MW

I am going to see how things develop today, if I am worried again I will phone the delivery suite to see if I can be monitored (I can only call my community midwife between 8.30-9.30am).

Thank you all again....it is sooo hard not to worry isn't it? I don't think I'll relax until I have the little one in my arms (and then a whole new world of worry opens up  )

Glad you are feeling a bit better. Sometimes this LO can be really quiet too but I'm sure the midwife will put your mind at ease

I got up really early this morning too, Jamie has no concept of sleep ins and hubby was knackered and I need him to be well rested incase anything happens.

Awww

Our babies do their best to worry us

If ever you're concerned, always call your maternity unit. They won't mind checking baby and it's always best to be on the safe side
