Umbilical Stump

Francesca just had a really bad pooey nappy so we had to wash her and when we were her umbilical stump has fallen off... Only 4 days old... Is that ok? What's left is really red and has like a little bit of blood and yellow puss coming out... I'm really worried..........

Charley's fell off after only 3/4 days. Just keep bathing around the area to keep it clean x x

Thats normal hun i always found if you just fold the top of the nappy down so it doesnt cover her belly button it heals up so much quicker as its not sweating inside her nappy. dont be afraid to wash it it wont hurt her i used cooled boiled water on cotton buds just to make sure i got in the creases. it will ooze some gunk for a few days but it will dry up and be a perfect little button in no time xxx

thats what we are all here for hun. being a first time mum had to be up there as being one of the scariest things of all time but is also the most rewarding of all time 2 lol xxx

First 6 months to a year can be pretty scary but most of what you'll worry about you'll back one day and think ' why was I worried about that?!' I used to worry about how many ounces of milk my daughter gotand worry myself silly if it was less than expected - looking back now I should have just took more in my stride - you'll be fine ((hugs)) xx

my ds cord came off 3 days later when i was changing his nappy at my neices 4th bday party but all good he did have an imbilical heriea (pants at spelling sorry) but thats unrelated xx
