two year old not eating

I'm at my wits ends with Emma as she is refusing to eat. She has three meals a day put in front of her and out of the three meals she has a couple of mouthfuls if I'm lucky. She doesn't snack in between and doesn't drink anything heavy only some prune juice once a day. I really don't know what to do with her, I don't want to take her to docs as she is fine in herself and I'm scared people will think I'm a bad Mummy

Aw, in no way are you a bad mummy!! DD is going through a not hungry phase, she's just not bothered about food when usually she has an amazing appetite (the other week she had 3 bowls of porridge for breakfast 3 days in a row!)

I find that usually a lack of appetite can sometimes be an indicator that she's getting some bug or other but if nothing comes of it then so long as it doesn't drag on too long then it's nothing to worry about.

Sometimes DD tries to use food as an attention thing, and we have to be careful not to put too much emphasis on her not eating but give her lots of praise and attention when she does.

But like Midna says, children can get by on surprisingly little so it probably isn't time to worry just yet and possibly just something you need to ride out.

Oh I know how you feel - I find it so hard when DD changes from this girl with a super appetite to the complete extreme and even though we've been through a few phases like this it still worries me everytime. I can't help but wonder if it's just another phase or if it's something more sinister. The worst thing about it is that there's not much you can do. Sometimes doing nothing is the hardest thing in the world.
