TTC with PCOS

Hi all,

I’m not actually sure I have PCOS as I have had a regular cycle since I was 16. I do have other symptoms (oily skin and excess hair), and I have asked my doctor to test for PCOS before and was rejected.

I’m wondering does anyone else have PCOS but also always have a regular schedule?

I have been TTC for about 5 months now and no luck and this month I believe I may not have ovulated. I’m thinking it could be PCOS related.

I have PCOS and have gone through phases of regular and irregular cycles. Seriously thought we would need medical intervention to get pregnant.

Eating healthy, exercising and losing weight got my cycles really regular again. I put this down to me getting pregnant too. Currently 39 weeks now waiting for my surprise baby to make an appearance.

Doctors don't test for it unless you have irregular periods. Mine went missing for over 6 months which got me hormone tested and an internal ultrasound. My hormones were fine-ish just borderline high testosterone for a woman. US showed I had cysts in my ovaries. That combined with missing periods and excessive hair got me PCOS diagnosed.

It's worth noting women can have cysts in their ovaries and not have other signs and regular periods. That's not PCOS but can develop into it. (it's why my diagnosis didn't happen until I was in my late 20's)

Hope that helps in some way.

Thank you that is helpful! What age did you start noticing your periods became non-regular?

Do you mind if I asked what your excessive hair growth is like? I know mine may be partly genetic but something just seem off about it.

I'm unusual in the sense my periods were pretty regular until around 26 or so. Most peoole start getting irregular periods from their teens. TMI my periods were always very heavy though from teen years which can be another PCOS sign.

Hair wise the worst is my face (top lip and sides of chin). I also get a really dark happy trail on my tummy and my arms are super hairy. Annoys me so much.
